You never noticed him playing the obedient lapdog/sidekick to Bush jnr then?
Yes, and he really coined in on that one.

Must admit it bothers me to read so much resentment about Poles coming to Britain. If there is one country who we should have had a simple long standing agreement of them being welcome in this country it is with Poland. Blair should be commended for ensuring we have such a link with them again. It will be a cold day in hell before I regard the Polish as anything other than firm friends and allies of Britain and I would look down far more upon any British person who thought otherwise than I would of a Pole coming to the UK to work.

I fully agree with you - the way the Poles were treated at the end of WW2 is nothing short of disgraceful and, for once, something from our country's past that we should be ashamed of.

Tiny Bliar is many things. Very few are commendable.
You can think of a single one?
He committed troops to bring the civil war in Sierra Leone to an end.

And that really is it. He likes to claim the Northern Ireland Peace Process as his own, but in reality Clinton, Major, McGuinness and Adams did most of the legwork. He just turned up at the end to sign the documents.

Unfortunately Sierra Leone gave him this idea that wherever there is unrest in the world, the situation is made better by the arrival of hundreds of British soldiers. And we all know what happened next.

I am not anti Polish, but think our border controls have gone a bit wonky, out of interest how many Poles are in Switzerland

Why is Poland seemingly so happy that a large chunk of it's people have left, and how has replaced them ?

No idea. Switzerland treats all auslanders and etrangers as little more than peasant scum anyway.

My point was Poland and Britain should have had a simple and long standing treaty of free movement between each other a long time ago. The Poles earned the right to a carte blanche to live and work in Britain.

Yes, without the Poles work on Enigma, we would never have broken its secrets in the timescale that we did and who knows what outcome that might have had.

For which Blair should be given the credit for effectively righting a wrong. Whether Poles are hardworking or not is irrelevent as to why they should be welcome in this country. As it is they are hard working, they are loyal and they are friendly. Its a miserly bloody Britain that doesnt recognise him for this either.

There are times Im very very grateful I seem to view things different to most ppl in Britain.

It was his other 'qualities' that quickly came to peoples' minds I suspect.

Viewing things differently is one thing, getting the right perspective is another. Clearly it helps being right wink

Quite right. The thing that bothers me the most is that ............ not everyone from Eastern Europe that is swamping this country is a Pole. Bit like saying we from the West are all French.

Romanians, Latvians, Czech ......... many many more.

What I can't understand is how the hell the Somalis and the Kurds got in, theres thousands of um.

Now we have the Albanians on the way.

No wonder UKIP got so many votes in the locals. Then some Tory was on radio 4 this morning stating that everybody voted UKIP because of issues with EU policies and the like.

Still they have no idea .......... Labour or Tory. rolleyes

I was listening to some bloke on the radio last week, saying that Blair wants another go, Scary thing is that with Milliband's lack of popularity and UKIP'S share of yesterdays vote he might just get one.
