Oldwage is something else. A disabled woman being an authority on the fight or flight response is like having a person who has been electrocuted being an authority on electricity.

Understand the point, but it's a major institution of state, on show to a World audience, shirley?

More so than the Presidency of South Africa?

Exhibit A: Jacob Zuma

The case for the prosecution rests.

I feel it only right to let you know I have referred you for psychological assessment and depending on its outcome I will then weigh your evidence in the light of its findings.

Apropos of nothing, SA not alone in what we'll call Zuma Syndrome, funny how they manage to squirm up the greasy pole, isn't it.

nono

It's been decided that it's not in the courts interest to determine whether I am of sound psychological mind and whether or not this has any impact on the validity of my evidence. Now, you must excuse me as I have to go and check the temperature of my emergency fire-fighting reservoir....

I'm slightly more confident in the system producing a just result, whatever that may be.
Interesting and challenging that two individuals who both have the same experience of life in South Africa both have a serious lack of regard for the Courts system. Indeed I think generally lack of regard for any of SA's public systems. Barring such disgraceful and illegal nonsense, which clearly cannot be totally discounted totally, I am hopeful of a Guilty verdict. But not confident.

I should add my OH is also a lawyer (though not in the criminal or civil litigation arenas). I'm sticking to my thought that on what we've heard to date, that he'll be convicted of murder or manslaughter (assuming that is the fall back).

Agreed. Pistorius is a dangerous evil man who should spend the rest off his life in jail for the brutal and callous murder of an innocent unprotected woman inher own home. There can be no excuses. My OH was a super head successfully running three schools. I have always remember Robert Maxwells comment when interviewed about his criteria for wife. He replied "One thing alone, Intelligence". A number of marriages have proved to me that on that occasion he was absolutely right. Undoubtedly the most critical factor. Clever women are interesting when you meet them and remain so. It s a challenge trying to keep up but thus far.........

Oddly I heard the same thing mentioned from a ex SA resident.

Don't know why, but...

I'd always imagined OP's stumps/amputation to mean that his legs basically stopped just below the knee.

I didn't realise that they continued, in a withered state, to about half way down the shins/almost at the ankle.
