Don't know why, but...

I'd always imagined OP's stumps/amputation to mean that his legs basically stopped just below the knee.

I didn't realise that they continued, in a withered state, to about half way down the shins/almost at the ankle.
This is a bit technical, but explains the condition

In the UK most trauma based below knee amputations do end 5-6 inches below the knee, using the calf muscle to wrap up around the bone and form the stump(although there are always exceptions). Amputations to aid mobility with birth defects can longer for a number reasons. Sometimes the calf is too withered to make a stump, or the deformed ankle joint may make a better stump.

It's South Africa. The police car taking Oscar to the courts probably got hijacked.

Is the prosecution lawyer pissed up or what? I don't think he's formed a full sentence yet.

The final arguments are painfully tedious. M'Lady is struggling to stay awake.

I dearly hope she does - don't want to have a complete re-run of this!

First reply on his tweet today? "MURDERER'. I bet he loves social media.
