Is this the same judge that rules it was culpable homicide originally?

White and wealthy! If he was broke and black he wouldn't see the light of day again.
If he was black and in that position having murdered a wealthy white woman one suspects that justice would not have involved a trial.

6 years. He will be delighted with that, for sure.

Can the State challenge the sentence now? If so, they surely will/must.

Does he get to sit under house arrest while they appeal? Wouldn't surprise me

6 f*ing years? What did he do again, not pay his TV licence? That's a farce. I'm no hang-em-and-flog-em, bang 'em up and throw away the key reactionary but even I think that if you shoot someone 3 times through a bathroom door you should get more than 6 years.

Oh, then again, if she did spill his pint then it's entirely fair.

Have just looked it up - yes it is.

Any hint that maybe its a lenient sentence as a harsher one would have cast an even worse light over her original judgement?

What a fking joke.

First sentence was 5 years, he served ten months. On that basis, will he be out in a year? Or is a 6 year minimum?

Hang on. Is the 6 years a new sentence from now? Or has the original 5 years sentence increased to 6???

Edit:

  1. Pistorius Legal experts say OP can be paroled for good behaviour after serving a third of the sentence - that is two years

Isn't the parole in SA 1/5th of the sentence? So he will be out on licence/tag by next Christmas?

Is it any suprise given how corrupt that country is?

So he gets 5 for manslaughter but 6 for murder?! WTF?!

The Steenkamp family must be close to the edge - 3 years for the State to get a sentence for murder and the judge effectively runs rough-shod over their loss...

The Judge said it's unlikely he'll re-offend. Well yes love, I'd like to think shooting your girlfriends face off is a one off, jesus wept.
