Quite, Foot backed Thatcher over that.
I doubt there would have been any 'bottling', he came from a different generation. Foot volunteered for military service at the start of the second world war. I think it was on QI that he was a 'scallywag', he would have been one of the first defenders in the occasion of a NAZI invasion.
