George Galloway being a cocksocket again

I sincerely hope he gets his just desserts and is hauled before the beak on charges of racism or anti-semitism. I fail to see how his actions are in any way different to the neo-nazi gangs in Europe that attack Jews.

It seems on the face of it like a cockish thing to do. The guy is standing up for his principles though so fair play there. One thing Galloway doesn't do is flex his principles when it suits him!

Without trying to get Godwin in 5 posts, but couldn't the same be said about Hitler or even Lenin in 1917? Neither of them had been particularly unpleasant, but what their political belief begat was untold misery for millions of people.

Playing devils advocate, but what has George Galloway done that is in any way comparable to that of Hitler of Lenin? Created a ghetto? Nope. Organised the systematic transportation of Jews, gays, atheists, gypsies, etc, to death camps? Nope. Walk out on a debate? Yes.

Same could be said for Iran though.

Ok, so Galloway has stopped short of saying they should be wiped out, but same thing applies....what 'action' have Iran taken against Israel? Yet the whole international community regularly speak out about their views about Iran not recognizing the state of Israel.


Point is, he is an elected MP......and he may have Israeli constituents. This is dangerous ground to tread as an elected member of parliament.

Don't mistake me for some Pro-Israeli here....quite the opposite. I somewhat agree with his views on the way Israel treats the Palestinians....but to say he doesn't recognize or debate with Israelis when he is an elected public official is a bit off IMO.


Why doesn't he debate with them? Has he not got enough conviction in his own argument?

I don't like Galloway and think he's a tit. Mainly due to his sucking up to dictators and religious nutters like Saddam, Assad and Ahmedinijad (not to mention his support of Hamas) but this statement above makes you appear just as loony as him.

He may have been a bit rude and childish in walking away here but 'racist and anti-semitic'? Get real and stop pretending to be offended just for the sake of it.

I don't know exactly what his issue is but he strongly disagrees with Israel's actions and policies, and having seen these things at first hand over many years that is his right. But to label someone a lunatic knowing nothing more than that seems a bit of a reach.

There are plenty of reasonable people who would not have debated with or shared a platform with representatives of white ruled South Africa in the 1980's.

Galloway views Israel in the same light as apartheid era SA. Whilst you might disagree with this, you can perhaps understand the reasons why he might feel that way.

Galloway is a professional provocateur. Democracy is a bit richer for him, and you have to not take everything he does so seriously. The nice boys and girls of the Oxford Union invited him specifically because of his style: if they had wanted a reasoned debate then any moderate representatives of Israel and Palestine (and there are actually plenty) would have been more sensible choices.

I'd be interested to know on what grounds anyone would report George Galloway to the police. He is not inciting hatred or violence and broke no laws in the clip shown.

If he says he will not debate with a person because of the country he comes from, that is clearly a racist statement. Whether it is anti-semitic depends on whether you want to enter into long discussion about the etymological derivation of words. I think there can be few who do not believe the intent of the statement was to insult Jews.

Galloway is muddying the waters. The discussion should not be what anti-semitic means but what his intent is.

One wonders if this supposed fit of pique (who on earth did he think would be in opposition to him) will do him any harm in the demographic of his electorate.

He's dangerous.
