Language for Europe

Isn't it that way already?
It's the common language of Europe. The EU is a different matter. The French have had hissy fits every time someone has dared to suggest that English is a more sensible choice than French. This speaks of something a bit wider though - the Germans wouldn't have done this unless they have become a bit fed up with the direction France wants to take the EU. Faced with a choice between France's vision of a socialist superstate and the UK's vision of a loose free market with very few ties beyond that, Germany is trying to figure out what they want.
I think that this indicates that they are starting to move away from France, even if they're not moving towards us.
