Of course you get incidents where a feeding frenzy takes place due to blood in the water resulting in indiscriminate attacks e.g USS Indianapolis but this is quite rare.
re the USS Indianapolis
Different species too, likely to have been Ocean White Tips who will eat anything.

Didn't realise sharks were Lib Dems.

Anyway, there was an interesting program on one of the Documentary channels last night about people who'd survived shark attacks (usually somewhat lighter), many of whom didn't hold a grudge against the shark, the ones in the program were actively campaigning against "finning" as practiced by our Oriental cousins.

It's true we're not on the menu however once an attack occurs more usually follow.

Sharks are a big concern for me. I've been bumped by one 18 months ago during a wakeboarding session off Stradbroke Island. I don't mention it much because people don't believe you.
Where I live we have three main types that pose threats (in order of issues):
Bull Sharks
Great Whites
Tigers
And to a lesser extent Bronze Whalers.

I do a lot of boating, skiing and wayersports & have children so therefore I brought one of these;

Who truly knows if it works but stuffed if I'm going to take any more chances.

Neither of those would be considered evidence to ascertain the behaviour of a species.

You're a hungry shark. You go to a place where you manage to pick up a tasty take-away.

Are you likely to go back to see if there are any more like that one?

Okay I'm not backing it up with evidence, but a bit of googling suggests they are of comparable intelligence to a dog, capable of avoiding threats, and solving simple puzzles.

In my own mind, i'm correct.

I remember reading some years back that there have been cases where one shark has been attributed to a number of attacks on humans, normally referred to as a rogue shark. There are some plausible reasons as to why it may become a rogue shark; damaged or ill sharks may be too slow to catch there normal prey so they snap at humans, may not be there food of choice but it's food all the same.
