The Global Warming Policy Foundation is pleased to announce that Professor Fritz Vahrenholt has joined the GWPF’s Academic Advisory Council.

Professor Fritz Vahrenholt was one of the founders of the environmental movement in Germany. In the 1980s his bestseller Seveso ist überall (Seveso is everywhere) triggered a debate which led to a fundamental reorientation of the chemical industry towards sustainable development.

Dr Vahrenholt holds a PhD in chemistry and is Honorary Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hamburg. Since 1969 he has been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). From 1976 until 1997 he served in several public positions with environmental agencies such as the Federal Environment Agency, the Hessian Ministry of Environment and as Deputy Environment Minister and Senator of the City of Hamburg. He then held top management positions in the renewable energy industry.

Vahrenholt is a member of the Germany Academy of Technical Sciences and the Senate of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. His 2012 book The Neglected Sun sparked a broad public discussion in Germany about the dogmatism in climate science. He is currently the Chairman of the German Wildlife Trust.

The GWPF Academic Advisory Council is composed of scientists, economists and other experts who provide the GWPF with timely scientific, economic and policy advice. It reviews and evaluates new GWPF reports and papers, explores future research projects and makes recommendations on issues related to climate research and policy.

The other members of the GWPF Academic Advisory Council are:

Professor David Henderson (Chairman)
Adrian Berry
Sir Samuel Brittan
Sir Ian Byatt
Professor Robert Carter
Professor Vincent Courtillot
Professor Freeman Dyson
Professor Christopher Essex
Christian Gerondeau
Dr Indur Goklany
Professor William Happer
Professor Terence Kealey
Professor Deepak Lal
Professor Richard Lindzen
Professor Ross McKitrick
Professor Robert Mendelsohn
Professor Sir Alan Peacock
Professor Ian Plimer
Professor Paul Reiter
Dr Matt Ridley
Sir Alan Rudge
Professor Nir Shaviv
Professor Philip Stott
Professor Henrik Svensmark
Professor Richard Tol
Dr David Whitehouse
Let's see how long this one lasts before infantile peer pressure, threats and online bullying kick in as per Prof Lennart Bengtsson.

I am Joe's complete lack of surprise. Al Gore would be so proud.

Just sent this email to BBC Radio 4

I caught your Radio 4 piece criticising the Prime Minister of Australia for his opinion that the man made global warming theory is wrong.

I have been waiting all year for your coverage of the record breaking winter and summer sea ice coverage in Antarctica and the cessation of rising global temperature for 17 years, despite the atmosphere increasing its carbon dioxide level to, and beyond, the heralded catastrophic level of 400 parts per million.

Why are you silent about these momentous events?

I'll let you know what they say.

Good luck!

A virtual shilling on the side says it will contain the word 'consensus' and the words 'scientists agree'.

Also that it won't mention the Oz-Canada climate realist alliance.

I think you'll enjoy reading this...the madness of government and how to deprive it of tax.

Among other things...

Owen Patterson is out in tonights reshuffle, interesting to see who replaces him but according to the BBC many on the right of the party are not happy at this.

Substitute Washington for Westminster, and it is equally correct. If anything, the UK is further down the Green rabbit hole than the USA.

Truss is apparently a bit of a right winger and tipped for greatness in the party. I'm still not sure where she stands on AGW but I did find an open letter online from some organisation complaining to her about AGW being dropped from the geography syllabus.

She sounds ok at least from her website. She's worked in the energy sector and is campaigning for 'reliable' energy sources. Hopefully that is code for not wind but we'll see.

It's unlikely that Cameron would put anyone in his cabinet who opposes the global warmist ideology.

Found the scary bit though...........

"Paterson was charming, hard-working and utterly blinkered. Defra governs so many parts of our lives – air, water, land, food – that its new boss must work with the scientific advice that informs effective policy, not rail against inconvenient truths."

The Reshuffle, UK Climate Policy And Getting Rid Of The 'Green Crap'

The reshuffle has also seen energy and climate change minister, Greg Barker, resign. Barker was one of a few true Tory greens, who saw the danger of global warming and the opportunity of the fast-growing green economy. The replacements for Paterson, Barker, Fallon and Hague may yet surprise us, but as it stands the Conservative Party are set to go into the next election with a very different position on the environment than the “vote blue, go green” of 2010. They have got rid of the “green crap”.

Damian Carrington, The Guardian, 15 July 2015

It's still amazing that seemingly intelligent journalists write about the danger of global warming as though it was real, and the benefits of the green economy as though they were, well, real. Then again a reality check probably wouldn't work as faith and/or ideology trump data and other credible evidence in what passes as thinking with true believers.

Sir Breathy Attemburg was being frozen on the telly again at teatime; apparently the Antarctic is all melty and it's our fault, 1m sealevel rise, catastrophe imminent, a lot of 'if this, this and this happens OMGLMAO end of the world as we know it!' etc. I may have dozed off and missed some of the salient points but you get the gist.
