Harribin on radio 4 this morning, sprouting how the warming must be from human C02 emissions, without any justification or explanation.

You must just believe. The interviewer meekly accepts it without questioning, so much for balance.
Aye the BBC is in full propaganda mode this morning. Anyone would think there's a summit coming up.

Nooooo, that would be biased, not for an organisation that is duty bound to provide balance.

Yer, no mention of the gross flaws in comparing today's measurements with historic ones, like different instruments, different environment, different data collection locations, different density of locations, different frequency of data collection, adjusted data, ................ etc.

Flawed ? You must be mistaken, if it warms, it is human produced CO2 at fault, if it cools, it is human CO2 at fault. If it stays the same, it is human produced CO2 at fault.

Please get with the message. wink

Have the CET records been subject to the necessary smoothing or homogenising so common in some fields of science (or so we are told)?

Harrabin and the rest of the Beeb don't seem to have any understanding of causality, poor souls.

Being uneducated at that level while speaking to the nation in the manner of speaking for the nation must be an intolerable burden.

Dr Benny Peiser Testimony At The US Senate Committee On Environment And Public Works

EU’s unilateral climate policy is absurd and suicidal

The European Union has long been committed to unilateral efforts to tackle climate change. For the last 20 years, Europe has felt a duty to set an example through radical climate policy-making at home. The EU's unilateral climate policy poses an existential threat to Europe's industrial base. Europe’s climate policy has burdened families and businesses with astronomical costs while shifting its heavy industry and its CO2 emissions to other parts of the world. The EU’s climate fail demonstrates beyond doubt that its unilateralism has been a complete fiasco. The lessons should be clear enough: don’t make the same mistake or you will suffer the same consequences.

The EU’s unilateral climate policy is absurd: first consumers are forced to pay ever increasing subsidies for costly wind and solar energy; secondly they are asked to subsidize nuclear energy too; then, thirdly, they are forced to pay increasingly uneconomic coal and gas plants to back up power needed by intermittent wind and solar energy; fourthly, consumers are additionally hit by multi-billion subsidies that become necessary to upgrade the national grids; fifthly, the cost of power is made even more expensive by adding a unilateral Emissions Trading Scheme. Finally, because Europe has created such a foolish scheme that is crippling its heavy industries, consumers are forced to pay even more billions in subsidizing almost the entire manufacturing sector.

Benny Peiser, Testimony to the US Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works, 2 December 2014

Stop the EU Pretenders

We face a systemic industrial massacre. We need a new energy policy. We have to stop pretending, because we can't sacrifice Europe's industry for climate goals that are not realistic, and are not being enforced worldwide.

Antonio Tajani, EU Industry Commissioner, 08 September 2013

It's not the brilliant consistent record they'd have you believe, no. Been adjusted since 1976 (from memory) for UHI effect, not the same locations/instruments used throughout, so just more junk data basically, begging to be a hockeystitchup.

Some reading around CET can be had below in case it's new.

Wave power dealt another blow: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-busin... I feel very, very sorry for the guys losing their jobs here, but as a Subsea Engineer I have always seen this technology as extremely difficult to attain! The locations, fluids, moving parts and hydro-dynamics are incredibly challenging to deal with.

World on course for warmest year........

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-3031...

Ah, the old pre-announcement trick, then doesn't matter if it doesn't happen, headline impression made, no retraction update ever made/noticed.

Headline should actually be warmest cobbled dataset for the way we have mashed it up for the last 10 (or whatever) years.

The BBC unusually allowed comments, but currently "Sorry, there has been a problem displaying comments, we are working to fix this." I bet they are!

Did anyone notice the BBC showing a world map with all the industrial nations emitting terrible RED HOT WAVES of CO2 during the 6 o'clock news this evening?

All of the innocent nations were giving off pale inconsequential colours.

So now I realise just how awfully wrong I've been.

Sod 'em.

Comment from Gordon said:
This board is littered with climate denial cult singing the denial mantra.
For starters, CO2 is a greenhouse gas and there has been a measurable increase in anthropogenic contributions. Also, 18 years of no global warming is a myth started by the Daily Mail. And so what the dinosaurs had it warmer 500 million years ago. The earth was a very different place, continents as we know it didn't exist!
Calm down Mr Brown you're retiring soon.

Looking at some more comments from the global warming believers, it's depressing to see the lack of even basic awareness around climate science and how easy it is to fool such gullible people. Almost as depreseing as the BBC itself, which I no longer watch or listen to out of choice and that article is enough online garbage for one day.

For an apparent "El Nino" year the global temperatures haven't been as high as hoped (for the CAGW cargo cult) - the data would suggest that the discharge/recharge cycle of ocean energy is not reaching the peaks of 1998 or even 2010. Perhaps less energy than expected in the system?
As we always say - buy Damart and candles.

If the pause is a journalistic figment, why are the 'climate experts' furiously trying to conceal it or explain it away?

Exactly, it's not imaginary, that line from Gordon is effortless jibberjabber.

Gordon also needs to learn a bit more about how radiative absorption operates in the atmosphere, but as he seems to get his ideas from The Guardian it won't happen.

Adding more 'greenhouse gas' when at or near saturation won't do anything worth noting. The faith relies on positive feedback and models make it happen but regrettably for the faithful, overall feedback is negative (Lindzen and Choi 2011, and that's the update not the original paper that put the sceptic cat among the faithful pigeons).

The level of ignorance among faithful Guardian readers and believer BBC site visitors is even worse than their hosts.
