Yep, owning Russia is pretty good insurance. Hell, at least Russia has fewer violent and corrupt scumbags in it than Chelsea FC.

Not really - if Putin decides he doesn't like you, it doesn't matter what you own. That's life without the rule of law.

Don't you want to add a bit more to your "suicide note"?

They are saying on the BBC site that his injuries are consistant with hanging, yet it then goes on to report that he was found on the bathroom floor.

There's been quite a few of late, there was the banker who fled Russia after 'getting on the wrong side of the kremlin' who was shot in canary wharf a few months ago.

Surely there would have been a rope or other ligature in palce in the bathroom.

It's generally not difficult to lock or unlock a modern bathroom door from the outside. An old-fashioned bolt would be more of a challenge.

Boris Berezovsky, the Russian oligarch found lying on his bathroom floor with a ligature around his neck, was in good spirits the night before his died and was looking forward to a holiday to Israel, according to his girlfriend.

Makeshift ligature fed between top of door and frame, wedged in place by door being shut. Victim gets in place by standing on something, which he then kicks away, hanging himself on back of door. Police arrive and break down the door to gain access, ligature is released from frame, body falls to floor, hence "found on bathroom floor"?

yeah but there has got to be better places in the house to do that kind of thing. go out and find a tree why improvise using a door unless you have no other options.

I guess his ex Israeli special forces security guard might have stopped him had he popped out with a length of rope.

Wasn't it his bodyguard who found him rather than the police?

If you're at the point where you're going to do that kind of thing, I'm not sure a rational decision regarding venue is necessarily on your mind. If it's a genuine suicide, his state of mind may have been such that the impulse may just have grabbed him during a low point. I know people who have done the same with no outward signs. He may well have been offed for all I know, just saying the circumstances of his discovery have an entirely feasible chain of events, or at least there are reasonable legitimate answers to some of the X-Files speculation.

If anything, you could turn the argument on its head. If this was indeed "designed" to appear to be a suicide, why would the perpetrators leave room for doubt? Further, given other events, would "they" even bother making it look like a suicide at all?
