I'm clearly missing something with this malarky; who is provoking NK? And why? Do they have oil? Or is it something to do with the fact the citizens are treated like st and 'Murica want to free them? It just seems to me that if we ignore them, they'll go away
That dynasty has form. They want reunification on their terms. They have tried to invade before, then again at a later date they dug invasion tunnels. I think that without the us on site, NK would be thinking of a trip to a beach in South Korea, better take the army in case the locals get antsy.......

And they are a buffer for the Chinese. So they just keep telling Kim the piemiester that he looks good in that suit and the world loves him.

Things seem to be heating up.
A few shells have been exchanged today and the political rhetoric coming from both sides is getting quite confrontational.

Apart toy they were not laying the right song or something. So they shot at the speakers. Which leads mi to believe they are secret audiophiles, the south probably used bell wire.

Northern soldiers recently snuck into the DMZ and laid some land mines by a gate in the fence. Blowing both legs off one South Korean soldier and causing another soldier to lose his foot.

That's what promoted the South to start broadcasting anti-regime messages into the North.

I read somewhere it was st pop music they were playing across the border; seems like a fairly mild response to having two of your squaddies maimed by mines where there should be no mines.

If it was some garbage like One Direction I could see why the North were so upset.

Fatty isnt happy.
He's threatening to make the South a sea of fire and there are reports that he has put his troops on a war footing.

Maybe he's just watched The Interview.

If Kim makes a move on the south is that going to be the excuse the rest of the world needs to go in and Team America the place?

I'm pretty certain that's prohibited by the geneava convention

So, whats worrying me with this is the level both sides are taking it.

I remember the last artillery bullst they played a year ago. Both sides didn't consult their usual friends. This time the US is involved.

How serious should we take them, or is the half the world trying it's damnedest to flex its military might at the other half.

relax, both Koreas are so fortified it would take a huge toll on the attacker

this status quo will stay for another couple of decades unless bigger players(China?) decide they might use the situation for their benefit

Does the posturing suggest Kim is under pressure or feeling insecure from internal politics?

Only if he is running low on bullets for the firing squads.

I think he's run out already - his new trick is using anti-aircraft guns.

Either way, the speed at which he's executing people from his inner circle does suggest that he's not the most stable of chaps.
