The central reservation just about covers the entrance, which if you look at it in the flesh, would mean you would have to make a slight u turn to make the entrance.

All in all, a very badly designed layout.
Yup. I thought it might turn out to be impossible with the turning circle of my car, and in any case that they'd designed the road to deter you from doing it. It might be seen as the prohibited U turn.

You can cross those broken lines and hatchings 'if necessary'.

Interesting thread title.....no idea where the road is. Read the article and found out it's Southampton. Is it a world famous road I should be aware of?

It's certainly world famous within Southampton and its environs. I met a man from Titchfield once who'd heard rumours of it.

There's also Charles Watts Way off J7 of the M27, named presumably after the Rolling Stone. I once accidentally ran over a cat whilst dressed as a pirate in a road just off it. I was going to a fancy dress party on New Year's Eve 1990. The cat's poor owner became hysterical when she saw me approach her holding the cat with a stuffed parrot perched on my shoulder. I don't think my "arghh-haa cat-o-nine tails" joke in a fake Cornish accent helped to cheer her spirits much either.
