Battled the big C and finally succumb to its evil.

On April 2, 2013, Ebert wrote online that his past hip fracture, "has been revealed to be a cancer," and he was receiving radiation treatment. He wrote he would take a "leave of presence" from some of his activities due to the recurrence of his cancer. Ebert died two days later.

Sad news.

He had said in the past he was tired with the idea of further surgery.
After what cancer did to him the first time round.
at least he is now at peace.

Bugger.

Siskel & Ebert's double act was the best movie critic show; Ebert was good too on his own - I always turned to his review after watching a film; you could guarantee an intelligent appraisal.

RIP.

Blimey I had no idea it was so bad!

Didn't agree with all of his reviews, but they were always carefully thought through and he was certainly one of the most influential critics out there. RIP.

Gutted. I'd corresponded with him a little over acquiring a feeding tube - thought he'd kicked the cancer.

Another one for the fk cancer thread. frown
