Probably a better choice of location than some, in that Beaconsfield Services is quite a way off the motorway itself. What I mean is in comparison to the service stations immediately adjacent to the motorway and with no other access than from the motorway.

Wondering why it being next to a motorway makes the slightest difference,

Aren't the majority of pubs next to roads?

There are plenty of Pubs next to Travelodges / Premier Inns etc on Trunk Roads. I don't see why a Motorway should be any different.

Most motorway trips are terribly boring. A quick stop for a few cheap pints should liven thing up no end. wobble

This. It's not the first one either. There is a Harvester at one of the service stations

Just the thing the motorist is needing to take a break against tiredness on long trips.

A nice pint or two of Old Speckled Hen.

Watch plod have random breath tests on the exit.

Donnington Park I believe.

Can't see this being any worse than all the other Wetherspoons. Strategic foot placement at the urinal as always, do people not understand the concept of aiming?

Erm a lot of services have a premier inn - all of which have a chain pub of some description.

I manage to stop myself from getting bladdered in these places so I'm sure 'spoons won't change my opinion on drink driving!!

Maybe the theory is that drunk people always crashing into and kill/injure sober people, perhaps if everyone is bladdered it will all just work like a Mr Magoo cartoon.

Yes, they are also close to houses, bus routes and train stations so you can find your way home when pissed. How long a break do lorry drivers needed after a full day behind the wheel? Could they have a pint or two before sleeping it off and getting going in the morning?

I used to work in the kitchen of the local Wetherspoons (I was desperate) and I would not eat the breakfast there, nor the pies or the mixed grill - I have seen a Microwaved Mixed Grill go out to a customer. The main parts of the breakfast are cooked fresh although baked beans are cooked at opening and used until they are gone(several hours later) the same goes for cooked mushrooms and black pudding, everything is kept in a warming drawer at around 90C. However stick to the burgers and you'll be fine, this is the only thing I will eat in one(regardless of the sauces used on the burger actually being microwaved from frozen in sachets and then poured on to it.) Any vegetarian dishes are basically ready meals served on a plate instead of Tupperware.

However, their kitchens are VERY well cleaned and a check of the kitchen is done by a duty manager every evening at closing hours before the kitchen staff can leave to go to bed. So for the money it's ok as long as you like microwaved meals.

ETA - If I had written the above whilst working there I would have got the sack. I have seen severe warnings given to staff for complaining about the company on Social Media sites.

For a budget meal i wouldn't expect Gordon Ramsey to cook it. The food is good, whether fresh or microwaved, the reason it tastes so nice, is the price..

At least you don't overpay, a hell of a lot of pubs, microwave everything, and don't pass on the savings.

I'm shocked to hear that food in a wetherspoons isn't prepared by chefs from scratch using locally sourced ingredients picked/slaughtered by only well paid union approved staff that's been shipped to the stores by ethical bicycle couriers who send 50% of their income to an orphanage in Eritrea.
