People like Fred Cloggs who just roll over and acquiesce in 24/7 monitoring by the state would do well to find a copy of George Orwell's 1984 and catch up with their reading.
They'll probably think it's an instruction manual.

Oh dear - the Israelis won't be happy hearing this.

AMERICAN AND BRITISH INTELLIGENCE secretly tapped into live video feeds from Israeli drones and fighter jets, monitoring military operations in Gaza, watching for a potential strike against Iran, and keeping tabs on the drone technology Israel exports around the world.

Under a classified program code-named “Anarchist,” the U.K.’s Government Communications Headquarters, or GCHQ, working with the National Security Agency, systematically targeted Israeli drones from a mountaintop on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. GCHQ files provided by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden include a series of “Anarchist snapshots” — thumbnail images from videos recorded by drone cameras. The files also show location data mapping the flight paths of the aircraft. In essence, U.S. and British agencies stole a bird’s-eye view from the drones.

It's really quite clever though.

It amazes me how they come up with all this kind of stuff/ideas.

By all accounts, the Israelis only used the level of encryption that Comcast or Sky may use to encrypt their satellite channels, as opposed to, y'know, actual proper military grade.

Rhetorical. I sort of expect nations to spy on nations, even their friendly ones. but I sort of expect Israel to be snooping as a default.

We don't all hate them! Having a negative opinion does not equal hate. The article is pitiful because it suggests so many reasons for that negative opinion other than the real reason many have a negative opinion of them. And the 'right-on latte sippers' type reference is rather telling of the journalist's own bias.
Yes Israelis must defend themselves, we all have that right, and they must do what is right for them. Sometimes, however, what is right for them is not right for anyone else and we are wary of this type of thing. That is why we watch them.
It can also be said that there are more extreme elements in Israeli politics than in our own, which is probably because their situation is more precarious than ours but this also adds to that instability.
I can imagine if Trump ever got into power in the U.S then the world would go mad spying on the Americans.

Well at least for once we are 'all in this together' - with the level spying (and hacking) that goes on I think it's perhaps time to accept that email is now a public messaging service, not a private one.

MPs’ private emails are routinely accessed by GCHQ
