Too good a deal will have other bankrupt countries lining up to default.

My prediction being young alexis at syrizas winning the election or holding the whip hand in any coalition.

Then with the stark reality of sitting on his new throne with some 70% of Greeks wanting to hold onto euros and confronted with an ECB threat of ending liquidity in the whole Greek banking system a "smoke and mirror" EU can kicking deal with be done with Syrizas that pacifies the equilibrium.

Yep..... the game of Euro Jenga will be kept going for another few years....

Alexis Tsipras the final casualty at the end of his term....... maybe one way or the other anyway......

Some would say interesting times and we will see.

I would say a total humanitarian tragedy to countless hardworking desperate Greeks.

With exit polls suggesting an overall majority for Syriza we may not have long to wait.

If so, at least they'll have escaped from the hyenas.

Nothing ever happens quickly in these situations, it'll take a couple of weeks at least to sober up and get an appointment with their bank manager.

Hence "if so".

What if the Greeks in their new form don't want to be accommodated, preferring wolves to hyenas?

That would be a scary dream come true.
I thought that in the early days of the crisis but it never happened.

Wouldn't China love to get a solid foothold in Europe?
In that case they would have no issue fronting loans to Greece.

When in Malta we saw a huge dock construction by Chinese interests, and look at this:

so a very real prospect, China has been taking over the world for years now. And they deserve to, they play hard ball at home and abroad. True survivors.

Why this? Surely this is exactly what should have been expected?

'Beyond the specifics, I was struck by the mismatch of expectations in the room between largely centrist, or centre-right mainstream economic thinkers, and a man prepared to say: end austerity, promote co-ops, rebuild the welfare state and workers’ rights, kick the IMF out of EU decision making and slash back the power of a political oligarchy that has gotten rich throughout every crisis'

No doubt - their human rights record and labour laws are beyond reproach, too.

hmmmm. I doubt that cockroaches (ultimate survivors) have any concept of those but it seems absolute that as a society progresses, it starts to treat itself better,.
In future years, China should become less autocratic.
