Give us a fracking break!

I watched a programme about fracking on PBS America(an obscure satellite channel).I came to conclusion that I wouldn't want it in my back yard,or yours.
Not enough is known about the long term effects of the emissions from compression plant etc.
yeah, but, where did the funding come from for making that programme, where do the makers stand politically etc.?Not enough is known about the long term effects of the emissions from compression plant etc.
Perhaps the 'raison d'être' of the programme was to ensure that people like you are suitably deterred by the fracking process....
You never know...

You're having a tin bath right? Emissions from compression plant? You mean like the diesel driven engines that drive the compressors that are identical to all other Diesel engines or do you mean has engines that use natural gas like your home boiler? Not enough is known about the long term effects of the emissions from compression plant etc.
A seriously. Pick an issue, make sure you know nothing about it and then let rip.

I like fast cars ...I also like clean, unadulterated drinking water. Does that mean I have to choose between one or the other? Don't be a tt!!!
No, just dont ever drink tap water or bottled water.Maybe pcvdriver missed the info from America where EPA investigations into claims of aquifer contamination from fracking found no evidence and were closed down, or the geological reports which put such wild claims into perspective.
Obviously it's not necessary to choose between fast cars and clean drinking water, both are available but obtaining decent quality comes with a cost in both cases. Merely adequate is cheaper.
First fracking = 1947
So it is impossible for any methane to turn up in ground water before 1947
So a well dug in 1910 can't possible have methane in the water then
can it

But PCV is a scotnat who don't deal well with facts

What on earth are you talking about? Emissions from a normal commercial diesel engine? Have a missed something important here? Not enough is known about the long term effects of the emissions from compression plant etc.

I caught a few minutes of this programme too, the bit i saw was interviews with locals campaigning against fracking, they clearly didn't understand what fracking is all about, they were making rediculous comments on damaging the environment and the damage to local air quality of the operating well head. One local now only drinks bottled water incase her mains water is polluted. Bonkers. Not enough is known about the long term effects of the emissions from compression plant etc.
The bit i did agree with them about was the 1000 HGV movements needed to drill a rig driving through a small town, trashing roads without repairing them, then some locals had to look out their window on, what was a field in the middle of a housing estate, to a completed well. Could have at least put a building shell over it so it blended with the surrounding houses. You'd have never known it was even there then.
I do imagine a drilling rig 100 metres from your front door for a month wasn't too pleasant either.
I turned over after about 10 mins as i decided the programme was bullplop.

In the documentary, testing was completed on seven brands of bottled water by two independent testing labs. Their tests determined the presence of benzene as well as other cancer-causing agents in the test samples.

There's a lot of it about in terms of fracking myths.turbobloke said:
There's time to develop controlled fusion. The only barriers are political incompetence and general public gullibility when it comes to green information pollution.
Fusion is all well and good if you're a glowing sphere in the centre of the solar system, but until some budding Tony Stark comes up with a practical system we'd be better off spending the money refining fission technology, which is already practical and safe but could benefit greatly from further research to reduce costs and waste production.hidetheelephants said:
