Finally McWiggle comes out as a YES supporter, So you'll agree that Britain isn't "Better Together" then?...... unless you're not McWiggle (fk, what an ahole he was - I heard he'd been charged with making racist and other discriminatory remarks by the Police, which had caused him to be banned from PH permanently).
Who is this mcWiggle ?

Was he a unionist pant wetting child?
So much rage lol

If carbon dioxide capture is what's desired, why bother with trees? Plenty of other forms of plant matter that are far better at absorption.

Of course, what you do with that biomass then matters, as soon as it dies that carbon is getting released...
Why bother with biology at all? The USN have mastered the art of synthesising fuel from CO2.

We use it like we do at the moment - it's not like all of a sudden we have no use for trees.

So even though their own planning officers recommended it, and they were given legal advice that their reasons for refusal wouldn't stand up to appeal, they've rejected it anyway?

Leaving themselves wide open to being liable for costs should an appeal be allowed. Very silly council.

I imagine they'd rather waste taxpayers money letting it go to appeal so that if it's overturned they can say "don't blame us, we were on your side!"

Exactly this.

They don't pay the legal fees. They just want to cover their backs - this was always going to happen. Not sure why they should have been permitted to take 15 months to make the decision. Pathetic really.

They will if planning inspector overrules their decision and grants planning permission.

I think you will find its the rates payers who get stiffed, not them.

Excellent pedantry, Sir!

Sometimes elected councillors forget who put them in a position to spend other people's money.

By "they" I mean the individuals who made the decision.

Having advised councils recently I can assure you they really do not care about the size of legal bills - it is all about covering their asses.

Strange how they didn't mind bringing millions of tons of coal to the surface, and profiting from its distribution and use around the UK, and even revel in their industrial heritage, But now they (or rather a small number of vocal activists) who have something against fracking have stopped this from proceeding. If the activists had been around when coal was king, would Preston even exist on a map. How times have changed smile

We're talking about the same "they". One local to me, on his own admission, only does it to expense his £65k motor car.

plenty of Roman settlements that without the age of coal and steam would no longer exist.
