To take something positive from this train wreck I am glad that I'm not an easily manipulated credulous tool of the far right. Knowing that your own prejudices match up so closely with those of the EDL must be a stty feeling.

Bit of a leap, no ? How do you know he didn't read it on another car forum and simply start the thread and post the link ? Why couldn't it of been the same you found out about and not automatically meaning you are a member of the EDL ?

The last link seems to suggest it was started in some blog called The Daily Bale and taken by the EDL as a news story and re-published by them by them in some way. Not exactly unlike it being posted here. Yes, probably with a different intent to our slightly gullible OP, but equally it doesn't mean it was made up by Pistonheads because it was redistributed here unless you establish a link between The Daily Bail and any other group/person drawing attention to it.

As noted above, the EDL didn't make the story up. It was a spoof that fooled the EDL mouthbreathers, as well as some PH mouthbreathers, as evidenced by this thread.

This thread makes me so angry on so many levels.
I'm not sure if i am angriest about the fact that someone can just make up an inflammatory story on post it without any repercussions, or the fact that so many people just automatically believe it - even when it is pointed out about half a dozen times in this thread that it is patently a load of codswallop.

Honestly, i don't know whether to laugh or cry...

Yep, but that hasn't stopped people seeing what they wanted to see and ignoring their own link and claiming it as such. Stupidity and desperately wanting a story to be from one group or another is a two way street.
My guess is an equal number of people will be equally taken in by from both sides; The EDL spread it as true, and another lot ignore the facts and use it to say the EDL started it to fit their own agenda. Both the same type of people in the end with the reality being some place in the middle as usual.
