OK, I hold my hands up and admit I got it wrong by not checking more thoroughly first. it was linked on facebook by a mate of mine who is an ex-squaddie and normally not renowned for posting made up drivel
I hope you are telling your facebook friends that the story is bks, as these stories tend to stick in the memory of the gullible.

The pub has closed while extra security staff are found as the 'gullible' have been aggressive to the bar staff. No surprise there then.

That scores about a 0.1 on the surprise scale

Quite shocked it hasn't been petrol bombed

Petrol bombed? Quite surprised? Has Leicestershire changed drastically in recent times? Even the pub having to shut for a few minutes while they found their chunky mate Dave to man the door seems a bit of a surprise to me.

Yep, but that hasn't stopped people seeing what they wanted to see and ignoring their own link and claiming it as such. Stupidity and desperately wanting a story to be from one group or another is a two way street.
My guess is an equal number of people will be equally taken in by from both sides; The EDL spread it as true, and another lot ignore the facts and use it to say the EDL started it to fit their own agenda. Both the same type of people in the end with the reality being some place in the middle as usual.
The reality isn't in the middle, its blatantly not true.
I'd already acknowledged that and pointed it out. The point was how it then becomes another load of bullst from the original bullst. As pointed out by myself; fake story gets taken up by the EDL who want to believe its true. Gets acknowledged as fake but now the bullst has moved on to " it's an EDL made up story " and a whole other bunch of people read that and see what they want to see , just like many of the EDL did.
Now with the damage done and the story spread around, it will no doubt crop up again in the future when EDL type people cite it as true and another bunch cite it as a false story created by the EDL.
The point about the truth being some place in the middle is exactly that, its a two way street for both, and not that the original story is even vaguely true

What do you mean "eh?" The poster I quoted is surprised the pub hasn't been petrol bombed as a result of these made up blogs, so I asked why he honestly expected a pub would be petrol bombed over this? Unless Leicester has twinned itself with Aleppo overnight, petrol bombing would be very much the "surprise" result - not a surprise that it hadn't been.

In reality a few idiots believe a story on the internet - which is very quickly shown to be made up nonsense. The pub was closed for a short while until some bouncers were brought in to work the door. Even that reaction surprised me.

I'm just waiting for "They have even successfully managed to make OUR squaddies second class citizens in THEIR OWN country!!" comment in the next anti-Muslim thread.

You seem to have taken that rather personally. The fact of the matter is that conversations along the lines of that would and no doubt would have taken place due to this story by small-minded dimwits.

Indeed. That was unnecessary. I'll close this as it would seem to have run its course.
