Chinese android phones
Discussion
While I realise that the majority of mobiles already come from China, I have been looking at these lesser known brands phones and they seem to be a lot of bang for your buck.

Anybody any experience of ordering and of the products themselves.

I've been using an Oppo Find 5 for the past half year ( www.oppostyle.com) and I'm more than pleased, it's an amazing device and there isn't a device on the market at the moment I'd switch it with.
The price however does go towards the price of the well known brands (albeit it's still a notch under it).
As for the others, from all the reviews I read about them they're getting there but still it isn't 100% like you'd expect with a Samsung/Apple device.

My Romanian driver loves them. he's got a dual sim 'HTC One' Chinese copy. he loves it. Got a Giff Gaff PAYG sim and a Romanian sim in it.
He thinks there's nothing to touch them. Not sure how the Android system works with them though, heard that some apps won't load from the App store and obviously there are never any operating system upgrades.

Can get loads of good stuff from China. Biggest problem is getting products that are actually certified safe. loads say they are safe, but when you ask for proof, many just stop talking to you. I know I mentioned it in another thread but there is a UK company now selling stuff that is really quite cheap for the spec and I have a tablet and phone of there's already and looking at getting there new 8 core tab.

That would probably be the Star S5 he's got?He thinks there's nothing to touch them. Not sure how the Android system works with them though, heard that some apps won't load from the App store and obviously there are never any operating system upgrades.
I very nearly bought one, but then the Nexus 4 dropped in price and I went with that instead. The problem with these Chinese non-brand phones is you're unlikely to ever get any updates or support. But apart from that (and the odd Chinese text and app you can't get rid of without rooting), they do look good value.
I have a jiayu g3s. Brilliant phone and cost £109 delivered. Low sar rating aswell.

How do you find the 3G performance? Got mine from www.banggood.com
I notice it only supports one 3G band.

You do realise that the 8 core tab (running Android?) will barely even make use of 2 or 3 cores, let alone 8 .... ?Android tends to run better on fewer/faster cores than it does with more/slower cores.

Is there any that run WP8?
I'd be surprised, MS asks money per license sold (software company), so that would mean a "significant" cost for a Chinese manufacturer, while Android can be used FOC.On top of that, MS poses a lot of restrictions/obligations re screen, cpu, buttons,... on the manufacturer, while you can produce a fridge and put Android on it if you want.
http://www.gizchina.com is a good blog site for info on domestic Chinese branded phones/tablets.
Thread revival I know. Colleague at work was looking at these and I'm tempted to have a look myself as a media player and to place another SIM card in for work.

I used a THL5000 for over a year and it was amazing value considering its specs, after a lot of use the power buttons playing up a bit now but I'd still recommend one.
Managed to get an Invite for a One plus 2 which I'm using now, its also a cheap Chinese android phone in reality, although the build quality is notably higher than most.
I have definitely seen the light in regards to phones, Samsung/HTC etc.. Can keep all there over-priced, bloated OS handsets.

I am hovering over the button to buy a Elephone P8000, but in the mean time have ordered this to try:

Hopefully the pink one doesn't arrive. Same price as a cheap garmin gps, so even if it's a phone and exercise tracker for strava it will pay for itself.
