I'm just wondering what on earth the fans who do bother going are actually going to do. I've been there quite a lot this year and there is NOTHING to do.
If people are expecting an experience similar to Dubai then they are in for a shock. That's before we even talk about you dripping with sweat taking 10 steps outside of a building.
people will stay in dubai and fly in for the matches. If people are expecting an experience similar to Dubai then they are in for a shock. That's before we even talk about you dripping with sweat taking 10 steps outside of a building.
i hear they're not planning to start building any of the stadia or infrastructure for another few years yet. plenty of time to get a reality check and award it to a country capable of hosting.

They'll have to lay on quite a few extra planes then! Increases costs for fans pretty significantly as well. i hear they're not planning to start building any of the stadia or infrastructure for another few years yet. plenty of time to get a reality check and award it to a country capable of hosting.
the blame game is coming out (not the envelope story yet)

"And with rumours of corruption still circulating around the decision, the FIFA chief said: "We have just set up a new, independent ethics commission to re-examine the awarding of the World Cup to Qatar."

I am not sure what I am more surprised about, the fact it is happening, or the fact that people are surprised about it!

This news isn't a suprise at all to anyone who knows Qatar (at least it shouldnt be), the only suprise is that it hasn't come out sooner IMO considering the spotlight is on them re the world cup.
Still, they can put it next to the headlines in the paper about 50% less maids escaping (yes, escapiing).

Just came here to post this myself. I'm getting more and more sick of the decision to even think about awarding this country the right to the biggest competition in the world. Countries should be threatening to boycott it.I am not sure what I am more surprised about, the fact it is happening, or the fact that people are surprised about it!

But no, fking Russia.
Look at their proposed cities down this page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA_World_Cup
Maybe you could get the group stage games close together if organised well, but from there you're looking at 1000s of miles depending where the draw takes you.
Youl could easily do Rostov, St Petes and Moscow. Rostov has some decent places to stay and S7 fly there cheaply from Moscow.Look at their proposed cities down this page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_FIFA_World_Cup

I would go to Russia... but then again, I go every month

Would love to see this get boycotted. Would it be even remotely feasible for Brazil, Spain, Germany, England etc to set up their own separate one-off tournament and basically invite everyone else to join, thus making the Qatar tournament the corrupt old guys in suits at FIFA redundant?
EF wishful thinking.tescorank said:

Any idea why they decided so far ahead anyway? They decided on two at one meeting, sounds like they were carving up favours.http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/239353....
