So it appears that it’s November & December!

A 3 month gap in the middle of the season is going to be interesting.

Fingers crosses the players say "Meh" and not go.

They won't be out for long though.

Maybe not but got to be at least 9 weeks with 3 for preparation, 4 for the tournament and a 2 of recovery.

At least the England players will have a new excuse in being overexcited about Santa coming soon to explain their failure at the World Cup.

If they had any sense, they'd fail to qualify.

With the change in dates, how can there not be a bid re-run?

I can see things becoming legal.

Are they not suspending the leagues and working around it?!

That will please the European clubs' finance directors and sponsors. Having said that, if the issue is decided this year, they'll have lots of time to prepare for the financial implications.

Yeah, no idea what they will do. It may actually affect 3 seasons. Probably condense the season before, start the world cup season early and finish it late, then start the next one late. And squeeze the Euros of 2024.

fking FIFA pricks.

They said on the radio the move to Nov / Dec will affect around 50 leagues across the world and the European clubs will want significant levels of compensation, something I doubt they will have too much of an issue with down there.

Once again it will all come down to money

yes

Anyone would think that they had a financial interest in it being held in Qatar. Thank goodness that assumption's been proven utterly false.

I'm just pleased football is being taken to the much-neglected market of the middle-east. They're desperately lacking a sport they can play at high intensity in the summer months, and for the literally dozens of people who aren't locked up whilst not working on construction sites to enjoy.

Qatar simply will continue to say they're happy to have it in summer, it's fifa who want to move it.

Even though this was the likely plan from the start when all the bribery was going on.

The whole thing should be scrapped and awarded to next best bid

It's not even that - there will be plenty of countries that wouldn't even have considered bidding because they have a climate that is completely unsuitable for a summer tournament, and quite rightly they have ruled themselves out of the running because it would be fking stupid.

Now the dates can be changed to suit FIFA's fancy (secret Swiss bank account), then it's a completely different ball game (NPI).

There's some seriously arrogant people in football, and this is represented in this thread.

It's a World Cup, the clue is in the name.

Nothing wrong with visiting lesser football nations. How arrogant to think that the World Cup should just be held for the convenience of Europeans.

As to holding it in November, so what? If you value club football more than your country, you're not going to win anyway.

Complete farce, but to be expected from what would appear to be the most corrupt sporting organisation there is.

You are seriously missing multiple points, obtusely perhaps.
