Why can't Qatar build air conditioned stadiums?

I believe that some NFL stadiums use it.
They can. Easily.

Are you going to build every team their own a/c training stadium?

What do you plan to do for the 100,000s of players, officials and spectators when they aren't inside a stadium?
How do the millions of people who are currently in Qatar spend their spare time?
During the summer?

Walking around Paris or London mainly.

SA had 3m visit for the WC in 2010, and Qatar has a population of 2m!

It's difficult to think of a more unsuitable country really.

The Vatican? Although I guess there is enough space for a couple of stadia!

Can't happen. Blatter would turn into dust if he went.

This is an absolute farce, so now they are going to interrupt all the leagues in the world for three seasons as they want to correct their error by moving this to the middle of the winter...could we England just drop out? It's not that we have any chance of winning, unless it was the play station version!

Qatar's population of nationals is actually 200,000. The total population of 2m is including expats who are here to build the world cup (one of which is me).
There is no way they'll be able to police the event, it's going to be a couple of months of carnage and disorganization at the end of which the Nationals of Qatar are going to frankly feel like they've just been violated.

Is it truly impossible for a European visitor to walk about outdoors in Qatar during the summer without dying a horrible, crispy death?

Anything over 40C and it get's very uncomfortable very quickly. Then add that it can get another ten degrees hotter and we can have spells of high humidity especially towards the end of the summer.

It's really not nice.

It'd take a few hours but essentially if you're out in direct sun for more than 15min you start to suffer without alot of water. Walking any more than 50m sucks also.

You might not have noticed but most of the players in the Premier League aren't English - even if we did drop out, we'd have to stop the league!

If the Premier League (and other European leagues in Italy, Germany, Spain and France) decide they don't want to accommodate FIFA on this, many, many national squads from all around the world could very well find themselves devoid of many of their best players.

This is not just an "English" problem. This is going to seriously affect most of the European season - and that includes the Champions League too.

Everyone seems to be bribing these dodgy officials to get the world cup or the Olympics. I wonder if GB had to do the same?
