Yet another... recycling plant fire

It is a bloody scandal. I would like to see owners and directors in the dock because the recurrence of fires at recycling plants is statistically ridiculous and there simply must be a smoking gun in most cases. Until the system is adequately policed, this is going to blight the country as unscrupulous, shady bds cash in on this fairly crude, but effective get rich quick/money laundering scheme. The BBC said:
South Wales Police said the site was five acres in size and there was a 200m exclusion zone in place because of the gas canisters. At least half the recycling unit is on fire.
A scrap yard caught fire near a place I worked at years ago and the gas bottles went ballistic. It is no joke.hornetrider said:
How aren't ins cos wise to this by now?
Surely they must just load the policy, because they can all plead 'accident' 'arson' ' lantern' the list goes on. I guess if the policy is loaded its not loaded enough as this will be a cheaper resolution.
But I must state im not in anyway sayin this is deliberate.
Another one on fire at Newhaven, East Sussex

Sussex Skips unit on fire.
Insurers are going to love them - the unit has only just been rebuilt after the last firebb

Funny how they always happen in the early hours or over a weekend when no-one is on site...
The cool, moist air in an evening and early hours of the morning creates a strange chemical reaction with old Tesco bags as yet not understood by science, this when mixed with the correct amount of dews causes the bags to spontaneously combust. That or someone puts a match to them when they think nobody is looking. mrmr96 said:
Would it be related to wanting an insurance pay out?
I would have thought it would be more related to not having to incur costs to properly dispose of waste you've been paid to dispose of?
The one next door to us was in October 2012 and, so far, their insurers have refused to pay out.I would have thought it would be more related to not having to incur costs to properly dispose of waste you've been paid to dispose of?
As I understand it, apart from £200,000 worth of damage to our site, the cost of clearing up the mess next door has been estimated at about £4.5m.
