Why did he apologise for speaking about what his constituents are telling him. Spineless git.
On Sunday night a Government source said Mr Fallon accepted “he should have chosen his words better” and should have said some communities felt “under pressure”.

He is saying the same, but weasel words. Trust UKIP to say what they mean.

As one Tory backbencher put it, the 'teenage' spin doctors in No. 10 haven't a clue.
By 'teenage' he meant 'wet behind the ears'. They abound in the Tory party and the Labour Party, not just the Greens and Libdums.

Fallon - backpedaling faster than Bradley Wiggins could pedal forward, getting a whipping by the 'teenage' spin doctors over his use of one word 'swamped'.

One word?
Fallon used these words 'swamped by HUGE numbers of immigrants'.

Put simply in plain English:
Arrghh, we are frightened to death of UKIP!

GOOD! and so they should be

...and will be! Wait and see.

There has been 85000 national insurance numbers given out to Bulgarians.

Police on the south coast now have to pre-book a custody space for any crime arrest they may want to make because the cells are so full of illegal immigrants. Forces down there are desperately trying to get the Home Office to pay for all the work they do catching illegals because it's having such a massive impact on their budgets. The HO don't want to know.

But there isn't a problem. David Cameron says so.

Well done for mentioning that.
Could I take a wild guess and suggest that processing any cases takes a lot longer as in a few/ some/many/great majority (whichever it is) they have to get interpreters in ?

They always mysteriously forget how to speak English when arrested.

Where illegal immigrants are concerned. The white bearded old men (and everyone else), will always claim to be a juvenile as they have been told that's the way to get preferential treatment. It ties up vast amounts of resources.

You do understand, don't you that those Bulgarians are not illegal immigrants? I have to check because of the odd way you have bundled both into the same post.

Again well done
Out of curiosity do you have "in house" interpreters based there permanently maybe a pool of them or do you have to get extra ones in ?
Genuine questions by the way not setting you up for a snide comment (I may have disagreed with you on stuff in the past but this is genuinely interesting to read.

Agree they are legal economic migrants and we perform no checks on their illegal activities elsewhere. How many partake in illegal activities here? Keeps the legal profession busy.

I'd venture to suggest that this group use up more resources than the equivalent Polish population, or perhaps the entire Polish population in the UK.

There are migrants, and there are migrants. Not illegal, but this group need special handling.

Control immigration, or you will dilute who you are.

Yes I do. But we were told that the expected vast amounts have not arrived. They have. I would venture there are significantly more Romanians here.

We have to get outside Interpreters. The system has now been passed to a private company. It is, as expected, an expensive shambles. It not as simple as saying the person is Afghan. There are numerous dialects in Afghanistan. It is not easy to get hold of the right one. It can take hours and hours and hours. One bloke recently claimed to only speak Welsh, Took 8hrs to get an interpreter.

All economic migrants require "0" level English - how's that for a plan.

Not very good for few Brits speak Spanish/French/Italian well. smile

I suppose language requirement if you claim benefits is fair

Really useful and eye opening stuff Elroy.
Thanks for taking the time to post it I thought the issues of dialect would come up and can imagine its a minefield. The Welsh guy sounds iffy and finally do you get the impression many are just taking the rip. I dunno how you can be sure other than shouting something in English and hoping they will react maybe.

That's pretty much my view at the minute
Anyway thanks again I wont ask what the interpreters cost I think my urine would get hot at contemplating it.
Good luck fella.

We probably have to 'import" translators.

Where does that figure come from?

The official figures say 10,445 issued in first 3 months after the restriction on working where lifted?

One of our new structural engineers is Romanian.
Site project manager on one of our construction jobs is Romanian.
The meeting I had today at Fosters involved 1 Japanese, 1 Aussie, 1 Indian-Kiwi and a Malaysian (and three English including myself); clients agent is a South African and most of the design team is foreign (including Welsh).

Funny old thing immigration, isn't it.
