Nice to see the Mail continuing the great old Sunday scoop. It is their story ultimately. The now dead NOTW were the kings of the coke and/or hookers format. It's what classic Sunday papers are all about !

It might not be the newest of news as his statement implies he is already undergoing treatment.....

in a statement, “This year has been incredibly difficult, with a death in the family and the pressures of my role with the Co-operative Bank. At the lowest point in this terrible period, I did things that were stupid and wrong. I am sorry for this, and I am seeking professional help, and apologise to all I have hurt or failed by my actions.”
But still hardly deniable as its all caught on film.

The idiot has now claimed it had been ''An incredibly difficult year'' including ''a death in the family''.

So there you go. Next time you get caught on film buying a load of cocaine with which to party with rent boys, you can blame it all on your gran having shuffled off this mortal coil 8 months earlier.

Will ask the Mods to close the thread I just opened smile

My comment fron that however.

During the banking crisis, we saw on here those lining up to give the bankers a kicking.
Those same individuals banged on about "ethical banking" whilst extolling the virtues of operations like the coop smile
So is this what they meant by an ethical bank?
Unlike other individuals, Co-op employees only ever use fair trade cocaine...

I think the "ethical bank" thing was more about where the Co-op invest, i.e. not in armaments companies or tobacco firms, rather than the drug and sex habits of the board.

On the plus side it's only good that the neighbourhood dealers and addicts are being cooperative. Mind you, he just might have fathered them all.

He should have done a 'Rob Ford' and used the excuse that he was as pissed as a fart when he did it.

Ethical includes bankrolling the Labour Party.

Listening to the World at One on Radio 4, it would seem this chap was the fall guy.

The Co-op had already taken on Britannia before they gave him the job. There's a case to be made for those that gave him that job are at fault?

How did someone with so little banking experience get that job? Good old 'box ticking'. 'No not us guv, we followed procedures.....

It could have been Peston on WATO at 13.20 but I'm not recalling an odd up and down all over the place intonation.

Well not trying to state the obvious here… but do you not think he was the face of Co-Op and nothing more?

A kind of look at us we have a minster running the show at our ethical bank… come bank with us!!

However the background checks that Co-op seem to do on everything are about as much use as a chocolate teapot, first not checking Britannia, now not checking their leader to make sure he was whiter than white.

Given that he's gay, that's pretty unlikely.....

So we're all outraged the Chairman of a bank gets caught buying coke but not a minister? Doesn't say much about the publics view of the church! hehe
