Could he have been put in an induced coma at the first hospital though, meaning he would have arrived at the current hospital in a coma? wink

Hospital sources say that the Formula 1 legend's wife, Corinna, son, Mick, 14, with whom he was skiing when he fell, and daughter Gina-Marie are all at his bedside.

Surgeon Professor Gerard Saillant, a personal friend, dashed from Paris to the hospital to treat the German.

Coma due to deteriorating condition, not induced

Does seem a lot more serious than first reported.

Hoping for a complete recovery, like others have said involved in f1 for many years and then injured doing something for fun.
I agree with the sentiment, and I hope he makes a full and quick recovery.

However, you make it sound like getting paid millions to travel the world racing F1 cars is less fun than going on a skiing holidayconfused

Come on Schumacher. I'm in complete disbelief.

Like him or loathe him, he is rightly regarded as one of the greats of F1. Absolute bd on the track, a gent off it.

He has to pull through. Has to.

Just says admitted to hospital after suffering a head injury and needed neurosurgery.

It does say he was in a coma on admission which as I understand from above posts is not great ie if there's a coma one would want it to be medically induced. Come on fella.
Pretty much what I was going to say. When I was a kid a friend's sister fell off a horse and was fine for an hour and then collapsed and died. Someone said on another thread that the nature of brain injuries is that they don't often show at first and the hospitals would be monitoring him etc and would, most likely, have seen it coming.

Fingers crossed for him.

Cheers

Yes, that is often the case, if there is a bleed, it may take a while before it becomes evident. That's certainly what it sounds like here.

Poor guy, very worrying development. Fingers crossed for him
