Yup, exactly this. It's too soon to tell, especially with head injuries. We need a report from the doctors treating him, or his family. Until then, it's all speculation and therefore just noise.I'd wait for official news.

When I last went skiing in Austria a couple of years ago, I was surprised to see how many more people were using helmets than when I last went. Wonder how many skiiers don't wear helmets who end up having a nasty accident.
I'd say about 99% of skiers were using them.
I hope he's not too badly hurt and makes a full recovery.

d; things can go very bad, very quickly. One minute you can be chatting to someone normally, the next they can be in a coma.
As anyone who knows me will tell you, I had no time for him at all as a competitor but he always seemed like a very decent chap off the track. His Top Gear appearance especially was a revelation.
Hope he pulls through ok.

The Dauphiné Libéré newspaper reported after his transfer to Grenoble that Schumacher was suffering from a severe brain trauma but that his injuries were not life-threatening.
His spokeswoman has also said that they cannot (understandably) issue a continuous stream of updates on his condition.Here's hoping MS makes a speedy and complete recovery.

According to the Daily Mail article, Professor Gerard Saillant, "one of the leading neurologists in Paris and a friend of the star, was accompanied by police as he was rushed to the hospital in eastern France"
