Ironic that the guy spent all that time in such a dangerous environment, and the most serious injury he has ever had to deal with is caused during recreation time.

Just says admitted to hospital after suffering a head injury and needed neurosurgery.

It does say he was in a coma on admission which as I understand from above posts is not great ie if there's a coma one would want it to be medically induced. Come on fella.

Does seem a lot more serious than first reported.

Hoping for a complete recovery, like others have said involved in f1 for many years and then injured doing something for fun.

Never a fan of him as a driver but you can't deny the skill and results. I hope he makes a full recovery but there's horrible echoes of other WCs who lost their lives doing something less dangerous than their day job.

Pretty much what I was going to say. When I was a kid a friend's sister fell off a horse and was fine for an hour and then collapsed and died. Someone said on another thread that the nature of brain injuries is that they don't often show at first and the hospitals would be monitoring him etc and would, most likely, have seen it coming.

Hope he pulls through, however what is being reported now does seem significantly worse than what was reported earlier.
