TFL Tube Strikes

Once I was in France and the toll booth guys were on strike. They still manned their stations but let you through for free thus not inconveniencing us drivers but massively inconveniencing their bosses.
I'd have far more sympathy for the tube workers plight, whatever that is, if they just ran everything as normal but opened all the gates/barriers thus feking their bosses and not us.
I'd kill to work on the Tube. It has got to be the safest and best paid job outside of the City.
BTW when I say safest, I meant as in job security.
They'd still be inconveniencing you - half (or more) of funding comes from ticket revenue!I'd have far more sympathy for the tube workers plight, whatever that is, if they just ran everything as normal but opened all the gates/barriers thus feking their bosses and not us.

BSR - sadly I can't promulgate.

Can you not get to Clapham high street station, take the overground to shoreditch high st and get bus upp bishopsgate.
Clapham HS to Shoreditch High St = 27 mins
Overground was nto full when I got it.
Clapham Junction is my nearest station - same train goes from there doesn't it? The bus goes from outside my house to outside work so I don't mind waiting a bit longer tbh. I could also get a train from CJ to Waterloo and walk the rest - think that's the quickest.Clapham HS to Shoreditch High St = 27 mins

Brace yourself, they have posted another update.
I am open to posting a well constructed response to either of their posts if anyone wants to provide the ammunition.
One might suggest that were they providing a better, more thoughtful and diligent service, in a free market rather than being a monopoly "take it or leave it" operation, customers might be less inclined to feel the need for physical feedback.I am open to posting a well constructed response to either of their posts if anyone wants to provide the ammunition.
ETA I'm calling "Mornington Crescent" on the next Londoner to post up their alternative route into work.
The DLR, (an automated line), has been running great guns today. Unfortunately for me I have to take the Central Line to Stratford to get the DLR so bugger that, I've got a bad back as it is so I'm not forcing myself and my walking stick onto overcrowded trains and platforms. Luckily I can work from home if I need to so I'm doing that.
Is this strike still on tomorrow too?

I am sure I heard on the radio this morning that the government are considering making the tube an "essential service" does this make strikes illegal?
No, not without a change in the law.Boris is trying to press the issue and the Tory's have indicated they may put it in their manifesto for the next election saying that a minimum turnout of 50% would be needed in a ballot before industrial action could be taken.
A bit rich from Boris as he won the mayoral election on 27% (I think, but it was a lowish figure).

all for the 50% bit - that being said I also want voting in the GE to be made compulsory with the added box 'none of the above' Boris is trying to press the issue and the Tory's have indicated they may put it in their manifesto for the next election saying that a minimum turnout of 50% would be needed in a ballot before industrial action could be taken.

Just automate the lot and be done with it, no sympathy for these dinosaurs and layabouts wanting days off for the sake of it, i bet half of them dont even know why they are on strike.
They have completely alienated themselves from the commuter and general public now, I’ve half a mind to buy some eggs and go hurl them at the picket lines.

There was an old lady outside Wood Green station last night from something like the 'Old people commie collective' supporting the odious Crow and his bully boys.
I have NEVER seen a member of station staff help an old lady/buggy/disabled person on the tube. See it on occasions on trains. You sometimes hear them say 'sorry luv, elf n safetee' as a 5'2" mum with buggy wants to get up the stairs.
Hateful people earning too much for too little. A little training, earn more than a teacher/nurse/other people.
The journey today was simply horrid for some. Most of the north east central line people visit Chingford, my station, to get to Liverpool St. I have never seen a train carriage so crowded after 3 stops. If you aren't forced into that situation its impossible to imagine it. It was only the legs of the lady opposite that distracted me from the plight of my fellow commuters. (/perv)

Luckily I worked from home today. No such luck tomorrow, though I dont use the tube ever. I expect that the bus I'll be taking will be more packed than normal, seeing as how its the only one that seems to go from Barnet to London Bridge (43)
Northern line was working today, was totally rammed but then it's like that every day.The 43 around Highbury & Islington and the City will be absolutely horrific I imagine.
