Swedish marine searching for Russian submarine in the archipelago of Stockholm.

Certainly some interesting stuff happening, I guess you hear more on your side of the country. I have been keeping track of this "research" ship that has left Russia and is sailing towards the area, http://www.marinetraffic.com/no/ais/home/centerx:2...

It seems the dutch navy are shadowing it also!

Will be interesting to see if it just sails on, on or does something?

Interesting times indeed, it will be especially interesting to see if they catch the submarine (or what it is) and what happens after that. Apparently they are chasing a man dressed in black, a probable diver, on the islands as well. Then there is the Russian tanker that has been just outside Swedish waters for a few weeks, according to new information.

if it was indeed russian submarine it's now probably far from swedish waters, and if it had technical problems one would assume they would send SOS message so we would know what's it all about

Apparently there was a distress call in Russian on Thursday, Friday the submarine was spotted and the operation to find it was launched.

If it is a sub it would have to be one of the Kilo class boats the Russians have in the baltic. In shallow water these would only normally move at around 3-4 knots. If they were being hunted then they may move even slower or be pinned in one location due to a sonar search.

Depends where they went in the Stockholm archipelago but they could be 30 odd miles from the open sea.

The principle question would be why would they be there? There is nothing military/naval around Stockholm that would be sensible to use a sub to spy on.

Ok then, conversation between Cameron and Putin:

Cameron: 'unless you do what we say we're going to invoke severe sanctions against you and are not going to buy any more gas and oil from you unless you relent'.

Putin: 'OK, that's fine, have a nice day'.

Some months later, possibly in winter:

Cameron: 'we've reconsidered our options now its cold and our nuclear power stations are old and broken and our wind farms are a waste of space (thought they look nice and cost a fortune to maintain) so we would love to buy more oil and gas from you so we don't freeze to death'.

Putin: 'sorry but I've sold your allocation to the Chinese, have a nice day'.

Be honest, we are no threat to the likes of Russia or China, or nearly any other country in the world, we had our day and blew it. As for the USA, it's not going to directly intervene in Russia because they only invade far weaker countries with oil to plunder, plus it's technically broke and is collapsing from within as did Rome many years ago. The only reason it hasn't defaulted is due to the massive amount of propping up of the dollar done by the Chinese government due to the high level of debt owned to China. Once they get bored, and pull the plug, the US economy will go down the toilet: The US national debt stands at over 17 trillion dollars and growing by the minute, check out: http://www.usdebtclock.org/

The main theory here is that the sub was here to take a look at the Swedish navy vessels which are considered quite a bit more advanced than Russian stuff.

OK, so first the Dutch Navy's shadow goes missing, and now the Russki research ship Logachev's trace has gone dead. No doubt David Icke's site will have the answer...

Quite so.

What strikes me as bizarre about our current policies is that they are no threat to us either (Russia since the late 1980s, Libya under Gaddafi, say, Syria under Assad, Iraq . . . even - arguably - IS), yet we just love Emergency Cabinet Meetings and "doing something".

Bit of positive engagement would be more helpful.

Anyway, good luck with the phantom submarine. I'm off to Moscow next week - I'll take the littl'un to see the bits of Gary Powers' U2 whilst I'm there . . .

Does one quarter of Abba not lead a secluded, "Dr No" type existence on one of the Stockholm Islands?

Might be connected?

Major? It was out in a couple of hours and when I drove past it this morning there was only a slight haze and a faint smell of smoke.

I'd doubt that the mission would be inserting anyone anywhere as it would be easier to just buy an air ticket or for that matter just use a civilian boat.

More likely would be trying to dig up communications cables or place sensors. Like our wireless stone in a Moscow Park.
