Yes of course, it's all down to laziness - a bit like those Russian troops who couldn't be bothered to get out of their tanks before they went for their holidays in the Crimea and Eastern Ukraine.

Easy mistake to make when you're a highly trained pilot next to a sensitive border.

Where what came from . . . there's more compelling evidence for the existence of the Loch Ness Monster . . .

Eh, the USA are seeing 20th century enemies all around too.

They've spent almost 25 years since the fall of the USSR fighting 'terror' all around the world.

Regardless of whether or not that is the case, so what? How does that make a 19th century world view any less counter-productive?
Well any country looking for boogey men all around them for whatever reason is counter productive.

They need to focus internally on what matters.

So it's relevant to lay that same criticism elsewhere. It's not just a failing of Russia.

The reason there isn't a lot of evidence is that the Swedes (who arn't stupid), do not want Russia knowing how they detected it. Operational Security is key for them. Hence why even the first photo they released was done so with the wrong location given to it, to see how Russia would react.

If we were saying that Jack the Ripper was a bit of a bd, and someone piped up "Oh really? Well what about Fred West, you hypocrites!", I think we'd agree that it wasn't really relevant.

A fair point, but I'm struggling how you can lay a criticism about a country struggling because of it's foreign policy when the USA manages fine with what seems like a much worse policy.

I'm just curious if Russia really struggles so much seeing everyone through 19th century tinted goggles, and it's not actually something else holding them back?

Did he fly inverted above the MIG and flip him the bird?

Looks like the Mig31 (?) is going faster than the F16 (?) any way... so it's more like pulling in after an overtake and the overtakee decided to be 'startled'?

Still pretty close stuff and not ideal for potential tension rising situations if they get these fly-bys a bit wrong!

Seriously, how can you suggest for all its faults that the US has worse foreign policy than Russia?? That seems completely divorced from reality.

You're wrong.

Do a bit of history reading.

Obama and co went out of their way to stay out of Syria.

Obama does not do war.

Looks like the Russians fly like they drive - totally irresponsibly. It wouldn't surprise me if the Mig pilot had had a drop of the clear stuff.

Just imagine if the F16 pilot had unwittingly decided to hang a right just as the vodka-sponge was doing his fly-by. The Russians would have denounced this as a further example of western aggression, and used forward facing cockpit footage to help prove the F16 pilot deliberately changed course to collide with the Mig.

Lairy fkers.

Syria kicked off in 2011.

When exactly did the US bomb IS?

Well looking to have bombed Syria on the drop of a hat, only to figure out later (though not admit it) that it was clearly separatists trying to 'play' the USA into involvement, doesn't say much for their policy does it?

When separatists can almost play you so perfectly well to invade another country with troops and bombs?

There is something wrong with a countries foreign policy when they can go to war by accident so easily.

We are assured it is only the "moderate opposition" being trained and equipped. It is just like the huge improvement in Libya since being given explosive freedom and democracy.
