Yes he let them go quietly without any bloodshed atall! (Vilnius TV tower) and other incidents.

As someone who was in Vilnius during that time, it was certainly less bloody than the current "letting go" by the flavour of the month that is Ukraine. Oh wait the whole eastern Ukraine is just Russian on holidays, holding the region against the will of the local Ukrainians who want nothing more than to be liberated, sorry forgot.

Those supporting the freedom loving and democratic Ukraine hope you are ready to fight those commie evil and very undemocratic Ruskies. You are in for a treat once Ukraine joins the EU and/or NATO. Don't come a crying once all the EU intelligence is leaked straight through to Russia through Ukraine.

It's like trying to get involved with a divorcing couple, it might provide some entertainment, but eventually, when the tempers have cooled off, they may end up staying together and blame the friends who were getting involved for having tried and failed to break their marriage.

The commie supporters here are going to be in for a real treat when China asks for it's land in the east back. Russia will then find it's former republic friends are not going to want to stand alongside their former mother and stand up to the might of China.

It'll be a great business opportunity for the cartographers though....*lots* of new maps required.

Much greater business for defense contractors and the fossil fuel industry though, at least until the next target is chosen (and it has been) for exploitation until exhaustion or collapse. smile

Are you twelve? I find your "prophecy" as idiotic as some Russians claiming that they should have Alaska back. The world has always worked by one rule: "might is right". smaller nations bleat on about international law, stronger nations use it to keep the chaos down in between the times they themselves break it. As long as USA, Russia and China have a nuclear arsenal cannot be rendered a 100% ineffective, neither of the countries mentioned is losing territory any time soon.

Your lack of typos would give him the impression that you were 12? Would logic not dictate that it is the other way around?

Also, your posts are riddled with them. Even that sentence has one. redface

Yeah, the seas off their coast, which aren't Russian.

And as for China wanting to put pressure on Russian territories. It may happen. But ultimately as much as we "hear" that Russia and China are somehow opposed, the Shanghia wotsit protection pact, and the new Asian bank thingy mayjig, are signs that actually they have more mutual interests than opposed ones for the entire Eastern region.

I guess you've read about the Chinese being all anti-Russia from the BBC and other Western media.

If I've said it once I've said it ten times. Read news from BOTH sides, and if it's not obviously tit for tat then split it down the middle and there is your reality. If neither side join up, then the reality is likely neither sides story.
And if they do join up, then wonder who is benefiting from it lining up.

Sounds harsh and paranoid but once you've been lied to enough you stop being so trusting of 'news' smile

the only way they are going to take russian territory is to deplete russian economy to the point where Russians will have to sell some, the same way they sold Alaska to USA for a couple of whiskey boxes

Russia wanted to join NATO in the late 90's/early 2000's, along with participating in the ballistic missile defence system.

It would have been a USA/Russian led alliance, a proposition many in Europe were not comfortable with, ergo it never happened

Quoted from a contributor on AArse

"What a brilliant strategist Putin seems to be

After more than 20 years of peaceful coexistence with Europe, he has within 12 months, set Russia's economy on an ever steepening downward path, ensured that NONE of the democratic nations with a Russian border trust him, exposed Russians living abroad to distrust & possible sanctions & set the West on the road to rearmament.

Way to go Vladimir, you murderous criminal thug"

RUB is today 50% stronger against EUR than before 3 months, I wouldn't use "ever steepening downward" to describe it
