Reputation, wealth, just freedom to go and with any luck those fvckers who worked with him will also be investigated.

Some parts of the judgement (yes I read all 78 pages) were redacted. It's not only PIL and Shiner.

Leigh Day and three of its partners/clerk will be facing the SDT next month and they have set aside seven weeks for this.

Not only there is the costs bill, the Legal Aid Agency have said since all cases for Iraqi nationals since 2003 were tainted, they have made a claim for £3,684,261 and twenty-three pence.

These are huge numbers, but nothing compared to the pain, demeaning treatment and stress several members of the British Army had to endure false and hostile claims over the last 12+ years.

Would Shiners professional indemnity cover pay any of these costs?

I'd doubt it, because what he did was fraud and not in any way a result of a genuine, accidental transgression or error.

They are finished and rightly so.

I look forward to the session being reported when Ms Crowther is cross examined why she shredded key document(s) on the day before it was going to be handed over to the inquiry. Therefore the true provenance could not be proven.

They are the worst sort of filth; educated, entitled and utterly mendacious. They are getting what they deserve.

Totally agree, but will they, though? What are they likely to receive in terms of punishment? So far, all that I've seen suggested is being struck off, as opposed to a bit of jail time. Bit like Phil 'Suddenly Bankrupt' Shiner...

It's a real shame they didn't go after any US troops. I don't imagine the US government and prosecutors would be so ridiculously soft on them as ours. Scum of the very worst kind.

The Leigh Day lawyers were acquitted at the SRA hearing some time ago.

The appalling Shiner's misdeeds drew attention away from the genuine cases of misbehaviour by UK forces in Iraq, viz -

The saga continues.

Shiner was caught transferring deeds and possessions to his family and trusts to avoid being liable for £7m costs.

The Insolvency Service has recovered over £500,000 and he still owe £6.5m.

And his bankruptcy has been extended by a further six years to 2024.

Small consolation for these in the Armed Forces who have been besmirched by false accusations leveled by then PIL.

How is that not illegal?

It is, hence the investigations.

I'd forgotten about he late, unlamented NicD. Funny to see someone like him posting about someone as unpleasant as Phil Shiner.
