So no Iraqis suffered war crimes at the hands of the coalition?

All of PIL clients/Iraqi claimants were lying?

I'm pretty sure using improvised explosive devices (as used by the taliban) is a war crime in its own right. Where do our soilders sue these shisters.

Our boys have to clean thier bayonets because heaven forbid we stab them with a rusty blade and give them an infection.

You only sue those whom you know can, and will, pay. The 'and will' bit means 'at the drop of a hat' (soft targets).
No good pursuing those with nothing to offer.

So all claims were entirely honest and truthful?

PIL acted in an entirely honest and ethical manner?

Don't think anyone on this thread said that...

Don't think anyone said that either...

... and I fail to see the relevance in the slightest of that anyway.

Are you saying that because there has been proven cases of abuse by British Forces we should just allow Shiner to invent further ones to line his own pocket?

Apparently the CPS wants its £3.5m in legal aid back too.... that should give the something to be "stressed" about given his laughable claims of suffering

Piece of shlt should be hanged for treason. I hope he is now sued into an early grave by the soldiers whose lives he ruined.

Shouldn't Liberty now be thoroughly investigated & discredited, along with that slimy Chakrabati Corbynista??

I'd rather be poor and free than rich and in jail. He deserves nothing less than both, that's what he was trying to do to the soldiers after all.

Shyster cost the British taxpayer a huge amount of money in the process and tied up a legal system that could have been better employed throughout the inquiry.

Part of the price of the actions of Shiner and his ilk, including those at IHAT of the 'get a result at any price' fraternity, is that they have utterly compromised the credibility of any claimant.

I get that but was wondering why he hadn't been or isn't being criminally prosecuted. Of course, due process should apply but given that he's admitted fraud, to all intents, jail would be a forgone conclusion.

This latest twist has made my day.

Hopefully he will now be prosecuted.

Appears he has been scrubbed from the site.

I did some further poking around. They seem to be sanitising the site.
Some links dead, others 'not currently available'.

Which of the 2 sites are you referring to? edit: its the kent.ac.uk site. I guess they're worried about reputation. Site doesn't appear to be on the Internet Archive either...

Just seen ITV news - he's apparently 'living in avoidance' rolleyes What a complete utter wker. How many servicemen are directly or indirectly affected by this? How many in his legal team knew? I assume miscarriages of justice will be unearthed on the back of this. He's shafted the tax payer to put our own armed forces in jeopardy, & now the tax payer will no doubt have to pick up the bill for all the future compensation payouts/legal cases against him. Surely we should have capital punishment for some cases? I don't really like the idea, but what's the point in having low life scum like this living to a ripe old age?

I just heard an interview with one of the soldiers involved in the Battle of Danny Boy. The effect that PIL had on his life was awful.

I hope that Shiner gets prosecuted and sent to prison.

He could share a cell with Max Clifford.

£31m of public money squandered on an inquiry instigated by his case. Countelss servicemen besmirched and harassed, potential, genuine claims of abuse (we don't know, there may be some) of Iraqis diluted and discredited by his actions. His actions caused huge consequences - IMHO he really ought to be prosecuted.
