I thought it was interesting that they're flying an aid worker over to the states for treatment. I'm sure it'd be less risky to all concerned to fly an aid team to him - it's not like portable cleanrooms are a new technology.

I give it 2 days before Fox News announces "EBOLA IN AMERICA" or something close..
The RAF (and other air forces) have the specialist capability, not least to repatriate service personnel who contact an infectious disease in warzones and overseas exercises.

Well actually, it is, sort of. Two American mission workers, one a doctor, are infected and returning home for treatment. They are coming on a special transport plane to a specialized hospital in Atlanta. This is the first time Ebola will be in the US, so to speak.

This could literally see the wiping out of millions whole town and villages all dead.

If they cannot control people's movements there is a genuine risk that this could get to an uncontrollable level and spread well beyond the territories it currently exists. if it gets to Europe or India or Americas we could be facing a much larger death till than the bird fly pandemic of the early 20th century.

Could terrorists use this as a weapon? I'm pretty sure Homeland security MI5:6 Etc are considering it.

Very very worrying times no cure highly infections huge areas infected and now beyond controllable level of outbreak.
Forget Ukraine Gaza etc this is the biggest issue we are facing.

It won't spread anywhere near as quick in 1st world countries than it will in the poorest areas of Africa.

Don't handle infected corpses or nurse obviously infected people and you are very unlikely to catch it.

Hippos don't tend to get on planes and travel.

Unless its from Cardiff to Magaluf.

The infected doctor returning to the US tried an experimental solution on a young African that seems to now be cured. A serum from his blood was made (all of this IIRC)as an experiment and given to the other infected missionary also returning to the US. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Normally no one would experiment on live human tests but I suppose in this situation and also in war the speed of development is huge and normal processes are side stepped.

Imagine that a possible outcome of this terrible outbreak is a potential cure ...

True, that is often the catalyst for progress.
