TVR Vixen Quarter Bumpers

good luck.
Hello there,
I am fitting the bumpers on my freshly painted Vixen.
Reshaping the m8 SS bolts was not too difficult so fixing is easy. Found the details in this forum through SEARCH.
But now my question.
When tightening the bolts the bumper hits the body at several places and ruined the paint.
I was thinking of u-shape plastic profile over edge of bumper.
Any other or better solution for this detail?

PS, every bumper would need to be fettled to suit each and every car... not an easy job if you have new ones.

All I know is I have two in a box where there should have been four.

At that price and given Adrian's comments about needing fettling for every car, it's only a matter of time before 3D scanning the car and 3D printing the parts will be the cheapest way of making them!Chris
At £650 quid It is becoming a good proposition to make some sets..
Trouble as always is the demand will be limited and as Adrian has alluded too, everyone will want a set until asked to put down a deposit..
I have a spare set less 1 and obviously 2 sets on cars.
Fibreglass ones can be made relatively easily and you can even have brushed aluminium powder coating or chromium powder coating.
I had thought of making some and drip feeding them on the bay…
3D printing will be OK for making moulds and casting plugs. They are a very simple casting but 4 plugs are needed so won't be cheap to make.
Then as Adrian says is the fettling, not so hard but still a good bit of filing, grinding and polishing.

The centre fix is a stud screwed into the casting, the outer 2 fixings are coach bolts. I have turned down the heads of metric coach bolts to fit the holes but still have the correct square. You then fix the bumper in position and I personally tighten the outer 2 first and the centre one last but not overtight since you don't want to damage your paint.. I am also going to make some thick rubber washers internally to allow tightening without being able to over tighten the bolt which hopefully will give a little compliance. The fundamental way to not damage paint though is for the bumper to be able to be pushed home against a matching shaped panel

Nuts and bolts is not the problem of course.
But pressing the sharp edge of the bumper in the fresh paint is not what I want.
And " mould the body to the bumper" is not possible anymore. But whether the costs for this worth the result I doubtf. In Blackpool they have never finished a TVR at that high quality.
I go for a underlayer of rubber innertube.
Or u-shape profile around the edge.
Will show some pics when ready.
Or any other ideas??.?.

I think you must be talking about my set of early Grantura/Vixen NOS bumpers that I sold on ebay just over 3 weeks ago.Chris
They never sold for £650 though but a lot higher and ended up at £860.
The buyer paid for them straight away.
