Has there been a recent series of Top Gear where there hasn't been some sort of controversy to gain a few more column inches? (usually involving Clarkson)
One of the 'Lads' presenting make some near the knuckle remark that is clearly scripted to beforehand, the professionally offended rise to the bait and are duly offended.
Red tops get a nice few headlines and a few column inches, BBC hold some sort of inquiry and issue a bland statement that it wasn't intended and that lessons have been learnt. Clarkson gets to write about it in his column the following week, and so on..... happens every year.
The only surprise is that people are surprised!

Err. so it applies to all buses then!

Bangkok Post said:
Bus owners would be allowed to improve bus conditions and get the test again within one month. If the buses still do not pass the test, another three months will be given. If the buses still do not pass the third test, another six months will be allowed for improvement.
They're very strict with health and safety out there!

Back on topic, clearly Clarkson's a knob (well, he plays the part of being a knob when being filmed) but she's a bigger knob (if women can be knobs!) Top Gear often has (poor) jokes but this was so obscure, most people on here didn't understand it, she should just let it go, if we were all offended by everything we heard we'd all be in court all the time!

Is it also racist (cityist) to refer to Geordies, Brummies etc? We could end up never being able to describe anyone.

Everytime I read this: At the completion of the task Clarkson said "that is a proud moment, but there's a slope on it", just as an Asian man can be seen walking towards him on the bridge.
I can't help but chuckle.

I must be racist.

Hold on.

As with the girl who cracked a 'Yes I do have weapons of mass destruction' joke when asked at airport security (she didn't have any WMD's, she just thrown in jail for being a tit) the punishment isn't the result of the assumed 'offense', it's purely down to the fact that it wasn't funny.

She's suing Clarkson because he tried to be funny, and failed. And he wasted a million pounds of her time.

Frankly, I'd ask for a million pounds too.

So because she doesn't like something, she's entitled to a million in compo? The world has gone crazy.

Mental. I'm embarrassed for her, frankly.

I didn't think Top Gear were quite that subtle with their insults.

If there's a slope on a bridge, but there is no one walking across it, is anyone offended?

WAIT A SEC.

She's not even oriental-looking. WTF. She might as well be a white middle class woman and sue Clarkson.

You know what is upsetting? It's the end of the season. I didn't realise that until I read the article.

What on earth is wrong with you pair?

Again, as per my previous quote, what happened in WW2? Britain wasn't invaded, Britain stood up on behalf of others in needs. What happens if you see a burglary or a mugging, but it's not you being robbed, "I'm alright Jack, pull the ladder up"?

For those with reading comprehension skills, I'll add some bold to give you a helping hand.

The BBC has received a formal complaint over an allegedly racist remark made by Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson during one of the show's Burma specials.

A law firm acting on behalf of actor Somi Guha, who appeared in 2006 sci-fi film Children of Men, has written to the BBC claiming Clarkson's use of the word "slope" – which can be used as a derogatory term for people of Asian descent – contravened the Equality Act 2010.

Guha, who has also featured in The Bill, is seeking an apology and disciplinary action against Clarkson.

She's not asking for money or damages, she's standing up for others which appears to be an entirely alien concept to you.

And you don't have to think you have a right to sue someone, demand they publicly prostrate themselves in faux forgiveness or close down a show loved by millions because you are don't like something. Stupid wannabe nobody led on by ambulance racism chasing money grubbing turds.

The fact people are even bothering to debate this is a bit sad.

The bridge had a slope, Clarkson commented on it.

Nothing to see here.

As soon as I saw it, knowing the term from the likes of Pulp Fiction (the Walken watch scene) I gave a guilty, involuntary, slightly nervous, chuckle thinking it meant exactly what they presume; a bit risque in typical TG style (as I noted to my brother) but beyond that, so what? Bad taste maybe, but damaging? Really?

The perpetually offended can see slurs in anything. Tough, deal with and get a life, it was so minor it's hardly going to affect her/their life chances, social status or well being. Attention we backed by money wes.
