The narrative here belies the "vote UKIP, get Labour" theory: http://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/only-one-i...

If the article is to be believed, the changing demographic of voters is naturally causing a shift in some areas, from Conservative to Labour.

I saw the headline 'fact' that "only one in five white Britons votes for Labour" in the Sun Times a few weeks back and was astonished.

Lots of immigrants. All legal, I expect. You are, however, never more than a few hundred yards from a council estate in London, so I'm sure there are quite a few nearby.

How many do you have? How do they affect your daily life?

I did rather Hope Zod would have gone to the Aston do at Burghley House and showed up at the dinner at the George, shame I didn't find him, would have loved to have had this discussion over a few glasses of Pino collapso smile
Would love to have and I do like the George (although the bedrooms are a bit tired). At the time it was planned, I expected to be busy this weekend. In the end, I wasn't. frown

Missed a great Do smile
I used to drink in the George when I was at school, strange to think of you two as frequenters of the place.

Family friends lived in Stamford for years (in one of those lovely Georgian terraces), so I've known it since childhood.

Clegg needs to keep his seat for that to happen, doesn't he?

This found to be amusing and see it on here so often. Ok it's about twitter but ignore that slight irrelevance.

Guido would call Doncaster Miliband’s ‘backyard’, but given the Labour leader barely spends any time there, he will stick with ‘Ed’s constituency’. Either way UKIP are in the ascendency in Ed’s constituency, as proved by Thursday’s stunning Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council by-election that saw a 20.5% swing away from Labour in Edenthorpe.

MSM not picked up on this yet.

How funny would that be if they took Eds seat and Cleggs at a GE,

Zod and co should be rooting for UKIP in those seats smile
UKIP won't get Hallam, it's mostly Student Gwant types, they'll probably go labour. Funnily enough it used to be a Con seat but the last incumbent was such an ahole that no one would vote for him eventually.

i would be delighted to see Clegg removed. The idea of that man holding the balance of power is a revolting one.

On the perennial "Vote UKIP get Miliband" cry aiming to create FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) seems as if that might not be that effective in all cases.

From Ashcroft's recent poll, Mike Smithson www.politicalbetting.com drew this.

Vote UKIP get a LAB government might not be the compelling general election message that CON campaigners think it is.

Pretty consistent with what many of us have being saying for months, its not (and never was) as clear cut as ZOD and others were suggesting.
I posted an article yesterday, not my opinion, although I share that fear. Mike Ashley until he saw this shared it too. I am some way from being convinced that the fear is not real.

there is only one reason they got that result is down to biased questions

Who can deny if they had an option for

"the bunch of idiots vanish in a puff of smoke never to be seen again"

We would have VERY different results

Not sure where you get biased questions from.

Follow the links to the full tables for the Ashcroft poll and see table 13.

Selectable options were the most likely.

Yes there could have been options to pick unlikely things such as LD -UKIP coalition or even a majority govt by either of those, or even an option for Ed Balls to be beamed up by alien lizards and given a good probing. Ain't going to happen and just creates irrelevant noise.

So a fair question imo.
