Farage would have done better not to show up, as he did for the UKIP festival in Croydon over the summer.
Probably wise given the clueless rent-a-mob UAF were at Croydon, with some of their number pretending to be Romanian IIRC

The point about Reckless being on message up until he jumped was hardly a surprise. People do this every day in their work life when switching to a rival firm that would be rather vindictive if they got a sniff of someone about to jump.
The most interesting thing is its far from certain he will get elected, so maybe anyone else is waiting to see what happens with him first.
Another note of interest is just how connected everyone is in politics. He was at college with Osborne, no Bullingdon Club though unlike the rest.

He was met with about 200 protestors made up of Cameron's UAF and Red Ed's SWP brown shirt army.

Liblabcon all over it.
I'm going to take this as humour. It couldn't be serious.

Oh, so you really are claiming that the Tories sent in some nasty bullies to scare away the UKIP supporters. Dear, oh dear.

You can see on the soap dodgers placards the UAF slogans at these anti UKIP protests and in my previous post you can see who's names are on the founding signatories of this movement so it doesn't take much to put two and two together.

Maybe i'm just been suspicious, it's not like two and a few more to come of his MPs have defected of late.

TBH, who really knew where he was going to be going before hand? Nobody on this thread and we're reasonably well informed.

The mature thing to do publicly(even if through gritted teeth) when somebody wants to leave any kind of club, association call it what you will, is to wish them a fond farewell and thank them for all their past efforts... but then again IMO, most that are not really into politics don't care or take much notice either way.

Will be amazed if Reckless does it tbh

On the list of Ukip friendly seats according to the Revolt on the Right research.

Clacton is No 1
Heywood is No 148
Rochester is No 271

eek

Also Reckless doesn't understand his constituents like Carswell does. So very brave actually.

Well, 70% in favour of Reckless's defection in what is way down the list of friendly UKIP seats - 271st! - tells me CMD is staring at a massive defeat next year.

Bring it on!

I think it is looking increasingly like Cameron will have to do a pact with UKIP. However, Cameron's idea of the conservative party seems to have more in common with Labour, so I wouldn't be surprised if he made some kind of pact with them, instead - old, crusty, decaying, morally bankrupt establishment closing ranks on the fresh new interloper....

Have to say, *IF* he does manage to re-win his seat, then nowhere is safe!

I may have to increase my forecast. 40 seats is beginning to look a bit low!

As nice as that poll looks, it's an online poll and I wouldn't trust it.

Judging by that video, if I was a voter in Clacton I'd be making sure that my vote went to the candidate who promised a full enquiry into the clear lack of decent hairdressers in the town.

Just remember folks there are a lot of ifs and buts in the development of that ranking.
If Reckless wins no 271 that really doesn't mean all the previous 270 are at risk.

If Carswell, Reckless or Bickley win, I don't think any of the previous surveys will matter. It will change the way UKIP are seen, it might even put a stop to the nonsense about a vote for UKIP being a vote for Labour/conservative.
