Was hardly the smartest comment to come out with in the week that one of his colleagues and a minister was caught sending pictures of his todger to some made up women on the internet.

UKIP just get on with it where as these numpties demand an enquiry into why one of their ministers can be duped in to sending pics of his anatomy to a journo.. What ever next have an enquiry because our celebs and VIPs don't know how to change their voice mail pin code.

Why would anyone complain about it.

I like Boris. It wasn't his finest moment.

It saddens me to see great people like Hague and Boris making such elementary mistakes. These are people who I had enormous respect for.

I really liked Boris. Traditional English cad. Fiercely intelligent, great sense of humour and self deprecating, a good entertainer.

Insult kippers, the majority of whom probably liked him as well, a schoolboy error, and shows him up to be just another career politician; too stupid to realise that insulting people does not work.

RiP Boris.

Me too, with my dad in the army living in Catterick Hague was my local MP over in Richmond, the original Farage pint in hand, great orator but with the ever so annoying voice. Then I eneded up in London and endured my first few years under Livingstone with his bendy busses et al though I shook Boris's hand outside Clapham Junction station one evening on the way home from work feeling the Tories could start to correct the damages labour had caused.

Now after almost 7 years I feel unable to connect with either of these two politicians, my views have remained static, and I now feel deserted by this party.

I would expect UKIP will stagger defections so that there is no or little overlap in by elections which allows them to concentrate all their resources on one seat at a time.

In the past, i would agree with you, but i am not sure that's true today?

Every time somebody attacks UKIP, their support sees to grow as people don't like the bullyboy agenda.

In the past the press and TV had a monopoly of information, today the internet has changed all that. The DM run an anti UKIP story and the majority of comments are pro UKIP.

What press have you been reading during the last couple of years??

UKIP have been attacked from the left, right and centre continuously, and we are getting stronger day by day.

I would say that the press' attitude to UKIP has ranged between dis-interested and mildly indulgent. They have picked on some of the more extreme behaviours/views but, beyond that, they've tended to focus on mainstream politics.

I'm not sure about the 'stronger day by day' comment. Certainly, they are nowhere near having the political impact that the SDP had in the early 80's and, in the end, they had next to no impact on the result of the '83 or '86 elections and UKIP & the Lib Dems combined are less well placed to have an electoral impact in 2015 than the Lib Dems had in 2010.

I think also, one of the challenges that they will have is in bringing forward a credible manifesto to take to the country in May. It's ok to be a single issue party some months out from the election but, come Feb/Mar, the pressure will be on to have something solid to say on health, education, the economy, housing, employment etc, etc and I think that will be a challenge - and one the press will exploit if UKIP keep antagonising them

Oh yes, that wonderful 8 panel power point deck (4 of which are just images) - I don't know what is more worrying; that Garage seriously thinks he can pass that off as a manifesto or that his supporters have been duped into believing that it is one.

You have a point about staggering defections. I wasn't suggesting they went looking for a million quid, just that it was a lucky coincidence. In that case then, on this occasion they misjudged the importance of a donor to the media?

I must say I await the UKIP manifesto with batted breath. I am sure it will contain a creditable plan to leave the EU.
