If someone wants to wave a Chinese flag do we really care? It'd be pretty daft to do it, but hey, who cares?
I wonder if anyone will wave the oldest flag in the Wolrd (Welsh one black background and a gold dragon same shape as it is today - no other flag in the world has been used as long as this >1,500 years. So I was taught at school ).
Have I missed something or have all of you?
Going back to Edinburger's link its states:
"And when the BBC asked the organisers of Glasgow 2014 if spectators could wave a standard Union Flag, they said they could. Although they added that the flag size policy would be applied".
So there's no problem waving the union flag in Scotland, which is part of the Union.

But surely.....the organisers must be evil Tories.Going back to Edinburger's link its states:

It's inappropriate for the stand alone Union Jack to be flown at the games......
hmmm - there have been many many commonwealth games over the years....every single one of which has allowed the flying of the union flag (the flag of one of the commonwealth member states)...........I suspect this games is the first time you have had an issue with it.I wonder why
The fact is - the UK (not Scotland, England, Wales or NI) is listed as a member country of the commonwealth.
Setting a precedent by banning the union flag just for this games based on nothing more than on the technicality that the member countries of the UK compete in separate teams would be a rather petty political statement dont you think?
Members of the UK compete in the games - so the flag is allowed.
Why don't you have a problem with the Isle of Man flags being flown (or competing for that matter). It isn't even a member of the commonwealth and only qualifies because it's association with the UK.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_Man#Commonwea...
"The Isle of Man is not itself a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. By virtue of its relationship with the United Kingdom, it takes part in several Commonwealth institutions, including the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and the Commonwealth Games."

That refers to the Union Jack as part of another flag, such as Australia's. As you know.
It's inappropriate for the stand alone Union Jack to be flown at the games, just as the Chinese, the Russian and Brazilian flags have no place at the games.
End of.

Surely they'd be on the scot gov website if true. After all, the letters from Christina to the EU that make the SNP look like total muppets are there, so you'd think they were keen to put up more supportive ones!
