Does anyone have any info on a rumoured EU position on Scotlands entry.

http://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/referendum-...
An anonymous source, which the EU Commission will not comment on. More straw clutching by the Yes camp.
I got it off a Yesser voting mates fb. I'm looking for those EU letters that Holyrood have to blow it out the water.
I just thought Guam would like to see his sides new arguement. hehe
They have letters from the EU?

Surely they'd be on the scot gov website if true. After all, the letters from Christina to the EU that make the SNP look like total muppets are there, so you'd think they were keen to put up more supportive ones!
I may have been unclear with my previous post.
I meant the ones that tell the Gov in clear terms, that they will be out the EU, be considered a 3rd world country and will have to apply via Article 49.

I don't think my mate knows these letters exist, so going to rock his boat a touch on this..

or with lightweight handles longer than 1 metre,
and/or flags normally associated with
(i) countries not participating in the Games or
(ii) causes, affiliations or organisations;.

The UK is not participating, and the Union Jack is not the Commonwealth of Nations' flag.

It hasn't been the British Commonwealth for quite some time.
The UK is participating, and no amount of nationalist bile and spin will change that.

Arguing about flags. It really is that pathetic isn't it.
Someone might be supporting ALL the UK teams. I know I am.

England athletes have had great support from Scottish fans throughout the games.

Currency union - temporary and long-term are relative terms

Embassies - this is not a '10%' issue. We are retaining the monarchy.

EU - at the very least what you say is speculation. Continuation of membership has NOT been ruled out, despite the biased rhetoric on here.
All from HERE

http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/parliamentarybus...

Which is the committee headed by the SNP in the scottish parliament looking at the issue of if we will be out of the EU when we vote YES.

First letter to the EU. Stating that they believe we cannot be thrown out of the Eu as there is no way of removing our membership. Which is the most common argument that we will stay in the EU.

Letter here dated 10th of march http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/S4_EuropeanandEx...

The reply is received on the 20th of march 2014 Saying that when we leave the UK then we become a new country and ergo we are no longer members of the EU as we belong to a new country which is not a member of the EU and they have been saying this since 2004 letter here http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/S4_EuropeanandEx...

So the SNP believe that the EU doesn’t know what the EU is talking about so they ask again on the 11th of April just incase the Eu got it wrong letter here http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/S4_EuropeanandEx...

And the Eu have replied on the 4th of June 2014 which is found here http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/S4_EuropeanandEx... And it is a short one so i shall quote it here

"As far as EU citizenship is concerned, this is not an autonomous status but is dependent on national citizenship. In accordance with Article 20 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU), only persons holding the nationality of a Member State are EU citizens. EU citizenship is additional to and does not replace national citizenship."

How can you class this as biased rhetoric?

And in a 2-min clip we see why the EU is such a waste of space and time.

SNP:
It's right that we can use Article 48 and not Article 49, isn't it? Because that's what we've told everyone and we must be right.
http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/S4_EuropeanandEx...
[I particularly like the hectoring tone and the assumption that the EU will fall into line]

EU:
No you will have to use Article 49 and apply like anyone else.
http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/S4_EuropeanandEx...

SNP:
But we are already EU citizens, so that doesn't apply to us, yae ken?
http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/S4_EuropeanandEx...
[That same tone again]

EU:
You are voting to leave the EU when you vote to leave the UK, so yes it does.

Thanks for the links guys. Shall stick them up on his wall soon and sit back to watch the tears and bullst fly hehe

17% is more than I expected to be fiat, I know some will move to keep their jobs or such but would be interesting to see the possible financial implications of so many working people upping roots and heading away.
Also the results that could bring to property prices are lots of people sell up and wish to move away.

Strange isn't it when the Nationalists say how the Conservatives are hated so much in Scotland, yet it looks like the SNP only got 3% more votes, so does that mean Scots hate the SNP nearly as much as they hate the Tories?

I suspect yes or no there is going to be very few people voting SNP at the next election, either because people will have realised how many lies they were telling or because of the bad feelings they have created. Sadly I don't suppose we will see the back of AS and NS as like most politicians they love the money and power too much to give it up without a fight.

And I guess you can assume those 700,000 all have tax paying jobs, the benefit claimers will stick around for their promised £5000/family, or whatever it was.

That shows how much things are improving under the SNP's fine governance.

So was he saying its within UKs remit to allow Scotland to continue as a member or not. If not then it would have to apply via the usual route and take on the €.

Can anyone answer me this question?

I partially fear for national disintegration on the unlikely event of a Yes vote. There already is disunity and division and it will continue now.

For example. Yugoslavia dissolved in the early 1990s into five independent countries.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia (officially The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) and Serbia and Montenegro and Slovenia,
In 2006 Montenegro was part of Serbia and Montenegro (also known as Yugoslavia) but gained independence after their own referendum as they were not happy with the way things turned out. Then Serbia became its own entity after Montenegro split and crazily enough Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia.

What I`m asking is this.

Has there been, in recent times, a country that has gone independent and prospered and been gratified?

I`m talking in the last 20-30 years?

lets go further

Has there been a country which has voted to end its independence and has ended its socialist government and become richer as a result?

I know the answer

Lets see if Fluff does

Here's one I heard on Heart Radio driving north on the M74 today. (I might not have heard it correctly as I was passing an artic' while towing my caravan and it was wobbling a little, but...)

They said that a large proportion of the population will consider leaving Scotland in the event of a 'Yes' vote.

I can't find anything in black and white on the Heart website but here's a link that seems to be related...
