Point of order: 17% of respondents would CONSIDER leaving if it's a yes vote - not definite.

But you're quite happy to agree with the extrapolated figure for the yes/no poll, and conclude that the polls are "getting tighter".

Nice logic you've got there - is it perhaps that you don't wish to believe the consequences of one of the extrapolations?
I just think the sample size is too small to be meaningful against such a huge life changing event as emigration.

Well 17% of 1,041 people. I struggle to agree with the extrapolated figure personally.

Cheers simoid, saved me the keystrokes of pointing that out myself!

Oh dear - really?

There are plenty of posts that could be considered anti-nationalist - and a few containing a bit of cultural banter........but you must have a very skewed view of things is you consider any of today's posts as anto-Scottish (unless of course you equate anti-nationalist with anti-Scottish)
Hang on a sec, so it's banter when it suits you lot?! But when I talk of banter I get inundated with tales of people being gang raped and burnt at the cross if they order English Tea at Starbucks with yells of hatred and racism?!?!?!

Dear oh dear...
What post did you consider to be anti Scottish?

Wow - hang on a sec........how did you make the leap from a discussion about how to catch wild haggis and the culinary merit of deep fried sporran...........to gang rapes and burnings?

That's true.

I'd consider buying an i8 if had reasonable legroom in the back. Equally meaningless!

I'm not sure I consider it emigration.

If there's a yes vote, the country I live in and love will have been ripped away from under my feet. Or it wasn't what I thought it was in the first place.

Emigration has connotations of leaving something for pastures new, but post yes vote I would be considering which new pastures I would most prefer as the sands would be shifting all around me.

In effect, by voting yes, Scotland has chosen to emigrate for me (from UK to Scotland).

As a frequent visitor to Scotland and one who generally likes the Scots and has Scottish ancestry, my greatest concern is that the bile spouted by knuckledraggers on both sides of the debate will have done near irreparable damage to cross Tweed relations whatever the outcome of the referendum.
I'd second that, as a native.
So why are you making it worse with some of your & fluffs posts here?

I've only seen anti Nationalist comments from the No side, never anti Scottish. Not the same thing at all.

Meaningless

Because they've no legroom, and there ain't gonna be a yes vote?

Oh, there's been lots of unsubstantiated claims of violence against people who are English or who look English or who sound English or who have ever visited England.

Usually originate from McWiggleyarse. He tells me how I must hate the English too even though my wife and many friends/family are English.

Pure mental.

In that case you will know on that sample size you can comfortably extrapolate give or take the confidence limits.

So I don't see the issue with the projection in the round (could have been clarified better from the reports I saw but that's no different to any other political projection in the news.
But to be accurate larger samples are required for such significant points.

It would be interesting to see what our SNP government have done in terms of research on this front, since they are aiming to have net immigration to fund public services. Have they considered the effects of a significant minority considering emigration because of their key policy?

Probably not.

Perhaps - but how does that relate to your specific claim of "Another day and another collection of anti-Scottish posts".

I haven't seen anything posted today that has been blatantly (or even subtly) "anti-Scottish" - most of it seems to be continuing dig at the nationalists who foamed at the mouth because the union flag is being displayed at the commonwealth games.

I think we all know you are aware that the posts were anti nationalist, not anti Scottish, and know you don't have a leg to stand on.

If there were a few posts (or in fact, regular occurrences of collections of anti Scottish posts) it wouldn't be difficult to have a quick scan and find one, such is the nature of sampling.
