Considering this is a major national interest how come Cameron and Clegg aren't stepping up to the plate?

Based on this? No.

The currency thing is mental, to play silly word games on something so serious is mind boggling. Does he think no one knows the difference between Scotland having a currency called the Pound and Scotland sharing the UK pound?
Sadly I think many will miss the significance of the difference.

It looks like they have been told to shout - the panning shots don't show a majority of the audience clapping
Salmond's points.

Love the way Salmond is trying to turn the currency question round onto Darling. Truly pathetic. "I think there will be a currency union, because if you end up going the way of denying us that, you end up with all the debt."

Default by Scotland then.

I must have spoken too soon - what a terrible performance by Darling, he is getting beaten up big time. The level of debate is pretty pathetic though.

As someone who could barely give two hoots whether Scotland goes independent or not, I have to say that Salmond is coming across here as a loudmouthed, misinformed cretin here.

Personally - I think Salmond should have been told to ps off. This 'debate' is nothing more than a soap box for the YeSNP.

Cameron hasn't got involved because the last thing Salmond needs to be given is anti-tory ammo to win more voters to his cause.

This is why I hate politics. It just turns into bickering and shouting over each other.
