If I were a Yes voter I'd be furious Salmond has promised me EU membership yet by voting Yes its instant exit and unless a Scottish Groat or widget currency is created and used for many years stably then EU entry is not even a possibility.

I wonder if the EU held this out until then end to kill the debate off once and for all.

It wouldn't surprise me. Salmond could have scaremongered this away if he'd had more time to play with.

Interestingly in the letter he states that Iceland & Montenegro were refused entry negotiations because they didn't meet entry criteria in similar ways.

No doubt it will be a Tory/English plot to prevent them getting their god given freedom.

As is the other leaked news that Lloyds Group will be moving to England. No surprise really as they're mainly London based anyway but it will mean that what is left of Bank of Scotland will officially be English. smile

Anyone watching the 2 hour debate on ITV/STV? Choice of each side panel is a bit confusing......

In the latest debate and I assume in defence of the silly 'people in Scotland don't get the government they vote for' argument , the Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson has just said that it isn't "likely" the Tories will win the general election. laugh

Not watching but it's been mentioned on twitter - did she really say that?

I admire her honest but seriously, WTF.

I did laugh - she actually said "the polls don't say we'll win at the moment" - which is slightly different

The debate is wearing, but much more civilised than the last shambolic salmond/darling quagmire.

I liked the you guy who said "poverty doesn't stop at Berwick - why is rich Scotland keeping its oil and turning its back on helping all the UK".

Two weeks to go and in my experience the biggest emotion from anyone I know who has an opinion on this is weariness. We're all just fed up with it - the SNP come out with utter garbage that is then parroted by their supporters, who must know they are talking rubbish but just are too blinded by fervour that they can't stop themselves.
I genuinely feel sorry for the sensible Scots who, through no fault of their own, will at best still be in the UK but a severely sectarian part of it, or at worst an independent country with a guarantee of rising bills, falling living standards, and failing services.
Poor sods.
Thanks, good to see all scots are not been labeled "brave hart nutters" the normal knees amongst us will have a lot of cleaning up to do once this has been put to bed

There's too much here to check back whether this has been posted/commented on already, so, apologies in advance if that's the case.

However:

In the weekend papers, Andy Murray monotoned that in the event of a Yes vote, he would represent Scotland, not the UK/GB. However, in the event of a No vote, he would continue as-is.

Well, fk the fking fk off then. Represent Scotland now, and if Scotland isn't quite good enough for you to gain an entry into major tournaments, well, that's just how the Highland Oat Cookie crumbles.

What really fks me off about all of this is that they (Scotland) seem to want to cherry-pick the good bits and bin the bits they don't fancy. It's bad enough as it is today. They want their own parliament, but not to bale from Westminster; to set their own policies but to take the "nice" UK ones. To fk off but to keep the pound. If you want your deep-fried Mars Bar and to eat it as well, that's fine, but don't think you can pig out on Victoria sponge at the same time.

Why do the Yes campaign keep complaining about the politicians in Westminster when they get just as many votes as I do (one) and there has been Scottish Prime Ministers recently? It makes them sound like morons.

To be fair to our protagonist - Many competitions are open to tennis pros of the UK. ( Not the individual countries )
You can't expect the bloke to represent England or Wales - do you?

It's a bit of a non story really.

You are right. There was a poll with age sex location profession a while back and men in their 30s in Glasgow were the most likely to vote yes. Teenagers and older women most likely to vote no. Amongst older folk, the more people earn, the more they are likely to vote no.
You think there's a direct correlation there between earnings and IQ/intelligence?
I think there's an inverse correlation between earnings and propensity to feel like a victim, (ie life is st, Tories are bds, let's vote yes, etc.)

Why does Sturgeon keep walking towards the audience? Just like Salmond did with Darling! Do people really fall for these tricks? It's like watching an episode of The thick of it.
