or

You mean like someone with a 'bad back' who legally claims disability benefit.

Do they have a bad back or are they lying? If the former then yes, if the latter then they're not "legally" claiming disability benefits.

There are plenty of people pretending they are unable to work, but are legally claiming disbuty benefit. The same as many who are 'legally' avoiding tax. To pretend otherwise is nonsense.

If they're lying then I can't see how their claim is "legal". Has Andrea Leadsom lied about anything?

Exactly. If they're pretending they are unable to work then any disbuty (sic) benefit is being claimed illegally.

Is there such a thing as a 'tax avoidance scam'? If schemes are deemed scams then they are surely tax evasion scams?

I would not want anyone who did not do everything they possibly could to minimize their exposure to something as downright malevolent as inheritance tax to be responsible for anything more than a box of crayons.

This topic ties in with the other "rich/poor gap topic.
When Laws are framed so loosely or are absent it is only in the nature of some to use this for their own advantage,is that "right" ,well morally no,but legally yes.
Blame the lawmakers,it is their job to provide the legal framework by which we are all equal under the law,not when those with wealth have access to that which is not available to "lesser mortals".

Eric probably passes it by in the newsagents or supermarkets etc like me, and takes a peek and laugh at the front covers. This fortnight's with Kate and Wills with the 'and what do you poo?' is amusing.

Personally, I think the one with the Camerons on hols is funnier ie 'Nice pair of loafers' and 'Bit harsh'.

But, why buy, when you can view most of it online, like the story about Andrea?

She's my MP. I've written to her a couple of times about transport matters. She has always replied in timely fashion but always with a thinly-veiled 'feck off, government knows best' response. Which is her prerogative, and why she's lost my vote.

Just another snout in the trough.

Slightly different angle.....
Takes a massive pay cut to be an MP, which is a ste job, maybe she just wants to make a difference ?
Also, she has done a proper job, not like the majority of Politicians from all sides of the House.

It isn't about the money, it's about the influence that it buys and the ability to steer government policy that suits your interests outside of government.
