words have meaning you know.

Yeeesss, but, with 50 seats fewer, they will not have the ability to challenge the other main party and will therefore have no influence on parliamentary activity. The Tories will possibly enjoy a sufficient majority to avoid a coalition. In that event, Labour will effectively be inconsequential.

You do understand that pressing the 'quote' button on here is not the same as actually quoting someone? It's a forum tool to allow posters to make it clear that they are responding to a particular poster.

Quoting someone in, say, a newspaper is a different thing. I didn't 'quote' Guam, I just made it clear that I was responding to him.

I dont understand that at all!

you select "quote" so you can quote them.

What is hard to understand about that?

But this is well off topic so if you want to have the last word, please feel free.

Have I entered some parallel universe where words that appear to be English and put into seemingly grammatical sentences have a strange alternative nonsensical meaning.

And it's in the same thread where Wombat seems to have taken acid.

Culprits consigned to disposal bin.

Seems?......Seems???!!! I'd say it IS totally hypocritical..... But who am I to critisise the workings of a party that is apparently above board with no nasty elements to it what-so-ever?

It is a strategy that is working. The only way UKIP could raise the profile of the EU madness was from the inside, Farages speeches are followed across Europe and beyond

But they won elections between 1997 and 2005 with a majority of more than all the MPs Scotland returns. So no, it wouldn't have made a difference, never mind making Labour irrelevant.

I have a question on how UKIP operate.

Do UKIP MEPs use their time constructively in changing the EU or do they just vote against other MEPs? I mean are they simply a protest party that will always vote against any expansion of legislative power or is that tempered to some degree when there is an opportunity to improve the EU? You could see how for UKIP where when the EU puts forwards a proposition that is in the UKs interest but requires some expansion of legislative power it could be a bit of a dilemma. How have they voted in the past in such circumstances?

Pure guesswork on my part but I would think any proposed expansion of the EU's legislative power, whether it improves the EU as a whole or not, would and has been be voted against regardless.

Expansion of the EU's legislative powers that happen to be in the UK's interest (an example might make it easier to reply)as you state, would be a dilemma however UKIP's mantra, so I believe, is no whipping so again I am guessing but perhaps UKIP's MEP's would and have been be allowed to vote the way they wished.

So, in terms of seats, the Greens are going to get the same increase as UKIP. there's no change to Labour, and UKIP gain at the expense of the Conservatives.

I suspect this is based on "other parties" and plenty of assumptions. Like most statistics.

Tories seem like the biggest losers there. Oh dear.
